Crashing when loading saves

Well, my happy little install didn't last that long. We're back to crashville after a short while. The last thing I installed was Sensual Walks but even uninstalling that I am having crashes 5 seconds after loading a saved game.

Some suggestions:

Did you run BOSS and rebuild your bashed patch after installing Sensual Walks? How about after uninstalling it?

Are you using OBGE - I understand it doesn't play well with DR6 drsplatter.esp...

Yeah, I rebuilt the patch both times. And no, I don't use OBGE (though I have thought about it, wonder how far along it is)

I also have other info if need be (OBSE logs, DXDIAG etc)

Are you getting the crash as you travel to one particular location, or does it happen anywhere?
If the former, this could be a corrupt spawn issue. If the latter, then there is some mod conflict...

Maybe try coc'ing to an interior like the testing hall, wait till your respawn time (typically 3 days), and then try again.

This may not really help you, but http://tesivpositive.animolious.com/?page=troubleshooting is a list of troubleshooting tips and solutions to crashing.

Sometimes, I try to use a previous save when crashing was not happening, and continue that.

Also, check for savegame bloat etc. through Wrye Bash.

The crashing happens everywhere, even in testing hall. Weird thing is though if I load a earlier save, I can travel around but if i save and load it will crash. It also crashes a lot when outdoors.

None of the savegames have bloating problems it looks like.

I'd recommend cutting down the mod list severely. For one thing it's hard to trouble shoot when starting out with loads of mods. Focus on getting a stable core FCOM install up and running first - and then go from there slowly, adding a couple of mods at a time while checking for issues/stability.

Thing is though, It was running perfectly a couple days ago. It's only just recently it's gotten crash happy.

Do you have the auto-saves turned off in the ini? That has been known to cause corrupt saves.

I hope you use streamsaves from streamline rather than quick/auto save.

Are you using OSR? Have you changed the heap mode and heap size?

I didn't have autosaves off but I did nuke my old autosave to see if it would fix it. I don't use quick save, only Streamsave.

As for OSR, yeah I'm running with the heap mode at 6 and the heap size at 1024.

Are you using WEOCPS? Check the weocps.log file (Uner Oblivion folder) to see if it recently prevented a crash.

My experience has been that if I continue to play a game when weocps prevented a crash, it usually leads to crashes later. Better to start off with a gamesave that has a timestamp prior to weocps preventing the crash.

PS: I am assuming you also have updated to the last stable beta Streamline (released many years ago now).

I installed WEOCPS after the crashing started but it didn't help. Also, I can't seem to see a log for WEOCPS. Maybe it never gets enough time to start up right?

Are you using the Mayu's Skeleton Tweaker when building the bashed patch? Try removing that and rebuild your patch.

Did you change anything (added another tweak etc.) when building the bashed patch? Try without that and rebuild. Also regenerate LOD using TES4LODgen before starting the game form a previous save.

Did you cleansave (remove the esp, keep the esm) before updating from BC v4.90 to v 4.92? Same with Faregyl if you updated that - it requires a cleansave...

You are indeed following all the best practices, but i still can't determine the cause of your problems.

My last suggestion: Try changing to a different OSR heap (TH2/3) and see if that makes it better. Change the heap size to default 450 and try that as well.

All I can suggest at this point is cleansave and update the 2 mods, and revert to an older save when crashing was not an issue. You might have to lose a few hours of play, but its less frustrating than frequent crashes. If the older saves do not allow you to save/reload, then the next step is the dreaded uninstall each mod and see if it works method :swear: :banghead:

Can you determine what mods are causing those error messages? Maybe they are your culprits. Post log here in spoiler tags.

I fixed it! Ended up loading a old save but not too old, went to the testing hall and waited 4 days then FT'd to Leyawinn which is where all the crashing started. No crashing!

Funny thing: I got introduced to a few new (to me) mods by looking at your load order that long.

Really keen on how diverse voices works. Let's see...

PS: I suggest using TNO's excellent Enhanced Hotkeys instead of sr_super_hotkeys. TNO made many new features in his mod which was inspeired by super hotkeys, but has none of the bugs associated with Super Hotkeys. One particular bug is that it doesn't work if you reload the game - you have to quit to desktop and restart for super hotkeys to work.
