Craziest thing you've done in your Skyrim hype.

Post » Thu Aug 19, 2010 12:49 am

This occured the day the Skyrim trailer released.

I had just got out of class and was feeling rather existential. Just then I remembered that the Skyrim trailer debuted today, but I forgot when. I look at my phone to check the time, it was 10:30. I quickly went over to the forums to see if it came out. As I went into the Skyrim section I noticed all the trailer threads, so I quickly went into one and found a link. (Avoiding any spoilers) My phone took me to YouTube and I stopped immediately; then horror struck. I was on 3G, the video was going to be grainy! It was bad enough I was going to have to watch it on my phone, but a grainy stream would have been :shakehead: . I opened my wifi settings and saw my schools network, but it was weak!

I quickly stormed into the closest building and began searching for the source of the signal. Like a mad man I rushed through crowds of people. I found it outside the teachers conference. I took a seat on the floor outside the room. Opened the video and paused it, allowing for it to buffer a bit. I did a quick survey of my surroundings. Two teachers noticed me they seemed worried by my frantic posture. I shot them my standard "you have nothing to worry about, I'm of pure heart, but please I have no time for any idol conversation I'm very busy" look.

It was time. I could barely control myself. Trailer plays. "You should have acted...", I was going to lose it! It was gameplay, gameplay!! I couldn't think straight. Then the protagonist performs his shout and I squealed. In a fraction of a second after the squeal I check my surroundings again. "Jeez I hope no one heard that" I thought, but a beautiful girl had. Well there goes any chance with her, but nothing to fret about now I had an agenda. As the trailer finished one thought filled my head, I had to see it in a larger format.

I ran outside and searched for any wifi leechers with laptops. I found a innocent looking gent and approached him. I jumped up on to the table he sat at. "You! I need to look up a video on that laptop" I asked. "No, get lost" he countered. "Here I will let you hold on to my phone in trade." "Well what do want to look up?", he asked. "The Elder Scrolls V" I answered. "Dude it's just a teaser" he ignorantly replied. "You naive fool allow me to show you the error of your ways" I scolded and then continued to show him the trailer.

As we sat no words were spoken, for non were needed. When the trailer closed he sat up and weakly spoke, "I have to tell everyone..." I stood and place my hand on his shoulder, "As fast as the wind can carry you, go now!" We shook hands and he bolted off. I looked to the sky and knew, soon I shall be in Skyrim, soon.

Nothing crazy but I've developed a habit of when someone has forgot to do something, I usually just blurt out "You should've acted!" In a Max von Sydow manner. I only did it the once and now I can't stop. :sadvaultboy:

i did the same thing for both trailers. i cried tears of blood and then went outside with my blade and started practicing, "of course this wont help me in the game but..still, inspired"
then i started to create a bunch of high poly models for my future mod. stones with dragon claw runes etched into them, its a secret, i wont divulge, but its going towards my lore friendly story mod.

Re-graded every single shot in the trailer (I'm a film colorist)

Oh and I thought I heard Nirnroot when I was down at the harbour..

I’d be interested in seeing that. B)

Sat up with 400 other people watching the same thread for hours, amid increasingly wild speculation," it's gameplay", "they'll show us the UI, got to be", "maybe it's fast travel confirmation", only to be rewarded with a picture of a troll.

I eat up every new bit of information we get.

I spent a couple hours trying to decipher the GameInformer text before finding out that it wasn't a direct-to-English translation.

I started to dissect the invented Draconic language into Latin and Nordic roots. Turns out, as far as I can tell, that only Dovahkiin (Do + vah + kyn) is directly tied to a real language. The rest is completely fabricated.

I memorized the teaser trailer lyrics (in Draconic), plan on learning the second chorus as well.

I plan to drop whatever amount of money I have to on any Collector's Edition that I can.

And, if I were married, I would be doing everything I could to birth Dovahkiin on 11/11/11.

I roam the streets looking for dragons, I thought I saw one the other day...Vile Creatures... Turns out I was just shouting FUS ROH DAH! at some poor lizard in a reptile shop, the owner thought I was crazy, but he doesn't know I joined the Dark Brotherhood! Well I think I joined them, they wore dark hoods... Actually thinking about it, they may of been thieves, and robbing me... Would explain why all my Gold has gone.. And my shoes... Damn Thieves Guild... Caught out again...:(

I joke obviously.

To be fair I haven't done anything crazy besides the fact every time I hear there is some new info on Skyrim, I get super excited, and once youtube(I was trying to see the gameplay trailer) was really slow so I tried pretty much every computer or tech that can go on the internet, if I recall I tried to use my bros Iphone(Usually quicker at youtube vids) he wasn't too happy about that.lol :batman: So I ended up having to wait 2 hours(seemed like 6 hours.lol) and ended up downloading the HD from the main website..

Craziest thing I've done is get excited for Skyrim. It's crazy considering how much Oblivion svcked and how it soured me towards TES. What's even crazier is, realizing this, I'm still excited. I blame the trailer.

Does visiting these forums daily, despite the fact that Skyrim's release is nine months away, count as crazy?

I've watched the gameplay trailer atleast twenty times, but nothing I'd call "crazy". But I'm also kept in check. I put a Skyrim wallpaper on my desktop and I got chewed out by my friends and Dad for it , so they keep my head out of the clouds.....................more or less :teehee:
