I can't express how much enjoyment I've had cavorting around the wasteland with FWE, MMM, and Amy Wong mods. Sometimes I have to stop because it is too much fun. Unfortunately, I know it will come to an end soon because I am at level 18. There is nothing left to do at level 20 except to start the main quest. NV was open as an option, but I read complaints that spawns are predictable, the world is flat and empty, and the game is replete with fetch quests. My main problem with this is the flat part. If there are no valleys and hills and rocks to take cover behind then what is there to the combat? I hope this isn't so, otherwise I will just begin a new character in FO3 and fiddle with White Label FO1 at the same time.

Yes its quite barren. the most fight you will get from is a bloat fly here and there and a cazadore here and there. Also dont expect super mutants to be everywhere because they arnt. The game isnt bad it just needs improvements.

FO3 the best game I've ever played.

This. IMO, it's the greatest game of all time. And that's in spite of a host of annoying bugs.

I got Fallout 3 recently after hearing so many good things about it on other gaming forums I frequent. In fact I had never heard anything negative about this game until after I started playing it and visiting these forums. So I picked it up and started playing and I LOVE it! It's such a blast to play! But then I come to these forums and I keep seeing threads about how awful Fallout 3 is. Am I stupid for thinking that the quests are fun and well-written? I feel like I am after reading threads here. I mean sure there is a little thing here and there that could have been done better, but I haven't played a game that doesn't have some of that...even ones that are considered really well written like Dragon Age:Origins.

You will find that on the internet that for every single thing in the world, somebody, somewhere will whine about how horrible it is. It don`t matter what it is, from Jesus to bread to the wheel.

Someone, somewhere, on the internet will hate it- and they will shout loudly about it.

Have your own opinions and don`t let others tell you what you like or don`t like. Especially on the internet.

... FO3 pretty much stole lots of things from the originals but that's off-topic and usually starts arguments do let's not get into that.

No argument there, Fallout3 the sequel did build on lots of things from the originals to produce this fantastic sequel (Fallout3). It's a fair comment to say how this sequel came about.

I wouldn't have used the word "stole" from the originals though.

And for those that have questioned how good the quality of Fallout3's writing is.

If Fallout 3 was called "Fallout: Capital Wasteland" instead, I probably would have enjoyed it more. The lack of any references or story progression to Fallout 1 or 2 (not even a single reference to the Vault Dweller or Chosen One!) really irked me.

There were references to the old timey Fallouts. Harold, for one. William Brandice, talking about dike Richardson and the old Enclave on his computer. And in the citadel, you find references to the foundation of the Brotherhood. Remember, too, that there is quite a bit of distance between California and D.C, and that post-apocalyptic communication isn't very quick.
