Create NightSkybox in Custom Cell

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 9:03 pm

Hi everyone,

I have read: A beginner's guide, lesson 2 - Creating a room http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/A_beginner%27s_guide,_lesson_2_-_Creating_a_room . I have made my own cell which is a basemant but with one side open to the void. Ingame when i am in the basemant the void just looks like black space. I would like it to look like sometimes oblivion looks at night, i want to see stars etc. Is there a way to create a Nightskybox for example? Or any other way to create what I want? I have googled and searched but its hard to find info. Could some experienced modder please help me out? Thanks :)

I have done this it is pretty easy really, are you familiar with nif-skope? If not that is ok You will need the BSAunpack application. All you do is:

open the unpacker.
On the bottem left corner there is a button that says open, click it.
Navigate to your oblivion folder and dubble click on Oblivion - Meshes.bsa.
You may want to sort the files to make the rest a little easeyer, the button for that is on the bottom right.
After Sorting the files, Scrool down untill you find the file meshes\sky\stars.nif and click it.
Go down to Extract and navigate to your oblivion data folder and click save.
Open the CS and go the the static menu
right click in the right hand box and choose new
Create an editor ID and then click Add Nif File
Find meshes\sky\stars.nif and select it
Click open.
You now have an orb of night sky to put where you will.
Works best if there is not too much lighting.

Hope this helps

Hi MNPred,

Thanks for trying to help me. The problem now is that the orb cant be set to a scale more than 10 (the orb is smaller than the basemant). So I cant get it as big as I want. Is there a way to make these stars like it is in the outside world? So I can fly infinitely towards the stars without reaching them?
