Create your own faction

i would have a faction called super slavers that sneak up on mutant camps in the middle of the night (or when they are sleeping :snoring: ) and slave them so that the mutants will do there bidding and behemoths will have giant saddles on them (and chains connecting the knees and wrists) and ride them around the wastes searching for new tech and bigger bunkers. sounds awsome right XD

uhm nooooo

Prohibitionists

A movement that is out to cleanse the wasteland of the evils of alcohol and other drugs as well as gambling. They have been known to kidnap people and make addicts go cold turkey. They have their own program to "help" people with addiction and it normally leads them to worship their leaders. They started out of New Reno from the temperance society but the more extreme members branched off to form the Prohibitionists. They have been know to be violent.

The http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj125/Gizmojunk/radscout3.jpg
They are a post apocalyptic revival of that ancient pre-war institution (and a re-skin of Little Lamplight).
They will grant the PC merit badges if he has below average intelligence and passes any of their classes.
(Merit Badges would be like skill books, but only work when equipped).

The Brotherhood of Steals.
Wasteland Merchant cult (with plenty of stuff on sale). They are the scattered remnants of Walmart.
They have an abundance of cheap gear and supplies, and a limited gun selection.
They are found in the fortified pre-war warehouse distribution center just outside of Vegas.
They have an inexplicable air of creepiness about them, but their supplies are decently priced and always in stock.
(Dark Brotherhood style hidden quest in the warehouse).

The Hulking Beast Mining Company (For short: Hulking Beast)

The super mutants from V87 weren't always completely out of line.
They had a leader named Caeran, and his right hand man Bomber.
When they emerged from their vault they found a hostile land, taken over by raiders.
They blasted their way through them and left the vault in search for a town to call home.

During their travels Bomber saw more and more about how evil mankind had turned, it corrupted him.
No longer could he ever think that a human had a good heart, all of them were filth.
Caeran on the other hand saw through it that these people only did what they had to do to survive and understood that.
And while he did have to kill those who wanted to kill his group it was all in selfdefense.
So his mentality stayed clear of paranoia and corruption.
The group of super mutants suffered some defeats though.
From the 400 that had left the vault only 70 remained, and with their leader's leg badly torn up by the latest Desert Creeper they had to find a safe place soon.

They stumbled upon a mining town called "Dead Peak".
Caeran took 8 super mutants with him to try to barter with the humans.
It took 2 hours to convince Bomber to let them go into the town, the paranoia was getting more and more to him.
When the citizens of Dead Peak saw a band of hulking yellow beasts with weapons armed to their teeth wander towards their town they quickly shut the main gate.
The guards of the town steadily aimed their weapons at the band of mutants as the mayor, Leo Moore, of the town spoke to them.
Repeating the usual questions of "What do you want?" "What are you?" etc, after some time of persuading Leo finally let the mutants barter with them.

As Caeran and his band was about to leave Leo stopped them and asked for a favour.
It seems that the town has been having problems with deathclaws, a radiation leak from a nearby cave, a band of raiders known as The Fire-Artists and an infestation of mutated beetles.
Seeing how Caerans brethren had little to nothing left it was just as good to do these tasks.
They were offered food and drinks and warm beds to sleep in as they fixed the problems the town had been having.
And sure enough after 3 years of helping out they had been merged with the town, being stronger than humans they formed their mining company and helped the town mine.
The town grew around this, becoming very influential thanks to both Leo and Caeran.

But Bomber...
His paranoia had grown to enormous proportions...
He poisoned the water supply causing almost half the town to go sick, and seven people died.
Caeran knew something was wrong, and found Bomber working on crude alchemy in his room.
After having thrown Bomber out a window, broken several of his limbs and breaking his jaw Caeran was stopped by his fellow mutant brethren.
They reminded him that they were civilized people.
So instead of executing Bomber they banned him from Dead Peak and sent him with only his trousers and a half full water bottle out of the town.
Noone knows where bomber went, but after a year or so, new super mutants started showing up around V87.
It's FEV pools once again saw the flesh it was going to mutate.

The mining company as of 2291 is having problems with a fellow mining company started by trogs and ghouls in the same town.
If the disputes keeps up any longer, there might be a civil war in the town.

Reading through this I give out a big "meh". >_>

The Travelers.

A group of wasteland explorers. Their past is known but many believe their ancestors came from Vaults because each Traveler has a pipboy 2000. They map out everything. They have the most detailed maps of the known wasteland, maps of the West Coast, East Coast, South to the Gulf and as far north as Canada. They have a caravan like system with many brahmin and carts. When they get to an area of interest they set up a base camp and from there they explore. They move in teams. They have some very rare tech. They are known to be peaceful but they don't talk much to locals only through ambassadors whose job it is to get into areas normally hostile or off limits.

A small town run by a ghoul who found a set of power armour and weapons and so the people in the town respect and admire him because he protects them from outside dangers

A small group of people who go round robbing casinos, banks and organisations. They've been on the Strip many times and have robbed most of the places, they are being tracked by bounty hunters hired by Mr House but they haven't been caught yet

My ideal faction would be a group of technologically advanced, power-armor wearing soldiers (Enclave and BoS deserters, people who found an armor cache, it can be whatever) who have their own fortified military compound from where they sweep the surrounding areas with patrols, creating a small safe zone in the wasteland.

Called the Imperium and a sort of autocracy their forces are mostly power armor using troops and tends to stick to ballistic weapons or melee combat. A pragmagtic faction that wishs to get humanity into a new age of technology and prosperity with any means necessary and does not really believe in good nor evil for such things are a luxary of the mind. While they have no love for mutants they are not against letting them work for the Imperium providing they are good citizens and makes up part of the growing labor force, as for slaves they free them and in return they ask that you become a citizen and work for the greater good and generally treated better though the work expected is none the less then the other factions. They are currently arming themselves for a war to lay claim to New Vegas and destroy anyone who would resist and do not allow mercy in a harsh world where none is expected or given and ready to conquer.

Carpet Baggers

A group of ghouls who hate the way they look. They used to get descriminated against. But then under the lead of a powerful ghoul they formed a power known only as the Carpet Baggers. They wear trash bags over there heads, and there homes are made of compacted trash from the junkyard in wich they live in. They are fierce, striking revenge to all that have not welcomed them. They hate everyone except ghouls. They feel as tho they have a connection to ghouls and hire them on as a labor force. After a while the labor force advances and becomes Recruits. They scout the permeter around the junkyardand make sure that no harm befalls the town. They then get bumped up to Ravengers. This is when they can get there revenge on the humans. Large assaults are thrown at towns. The only place that has not been attacked yet is the New Vegas Strip. None have been brave enough to lead a force against the NVPD. Then one day a new face showed up, Malicious Franert. He has no desire of life and decides to lead the fight to the strip. They outnumber the NVPD 3/1. All is going as planned for them, but then you show up.

A roaming pack of wanton, yet non-feral ghouls whose mission is to strike fear into every smoothskin in the west. They constantly ambush Caesar's Legion and NCR patrols and mercilessly torture and slaughter wandering smoothskin wastelanders and smoothskin sympathizing ghouls. While they are not very powerful in a direct fight, they are masters of surprise and ambush tactics. Many of them briefly reside in smoothskin communities before the group passes onto another, nobody knowing their true intentions besides fellow members. To strike fear into as many as possible, they are constantly moving through the wasteland, killing in as many different areas as possible, making sure no human feels safe from their grasp.

Many of the members were originally impoverished, oppressed ghouls who had been constantly rejected from human settlements. A fairly intelligent and manipulative ghoul began taking them in, feeding and clothing them and instilling a deep hatred of smoothskins into them. He would test their hatred as they grew over the years. Those who did not have the will to murder, were too dumb to keep the group secret, or were too sick and weak for combat would be killed. He would slip rat poison into their meals every day, making their agonizing deaths seem like fatal, unexplained illnesses. The ghoul would later teach other members this trick to easily kill humans in settlements they'd stay in without raising suspicion.

I like the idea of a group of assassins who are much like the Crimson Dragoons from Operation: Anchorage in FO3, who use either stealth boys or the stealth suits. They would all carry snipers and some form of backup weapon for up close stealth missions, most likely silenced and/or automatic, and the leader would have the personality of the sniper from TF2.
