Personally, my Operative uses a Galactic SMG and Hockler MP.

Both Silenced.

Mainly because when you get into the midst of the enemy, you want to draw as little attention as possible while firing (no showing up on radar = only your target knows you're there), and you want to be able to go as long as possible without reloading - although I've got the High-Capactiy Mag upgrade, not Drums, because a Drum Mag seems to destroy any semblance of accuracy for me.

I sometimes swap the Hockler out for a Sea Eagle with a Scope - it has good stability, accuracy and damage, and the scope makes it a good sniper weapon for those situations where you want to stay at long range.

It's really down to your playstyle though - try all the options you have for Primary AND Secondary weapons to find a pair you're comfortable with, then experiment with attachments until you find a combination that suits.

Galactic/Hockler is a fantastic set up, but a KROSS is also a good substitute IMO.

Tampa is good for damage but probably not the best in terms of an all-round weapon, which you probably need as your only secondary option is a pistol. Machine Pistols work well in this game. If you dont have a Hockler, dont worry - it's a carbon copy of the Belgo. I like the Kalt as a semi-auto pistol because it a good mix between damage and ROF, and stability. The revolver is the High damage alternative which I've found myself using recently a lot.

P.S. I used to play light operative heavily so dont be fooled by my signature.

I second the kross, along with any pistol with the rapid fire attachment. My suggestion is silence one or the other, because sometimes you'll want that extra bit of damage.

4 words of advice, OP.....................fast, quiet, sneaky bastard. = successful Light Op!

If you find yourself standing still and swapping shots with the enemy, you're doing it wrong. :hubbahubba:

Galactic - silencer, adjusted irons, fore-grip, drums
Sea Eagle - silencer, adjusted irons, rapid fire, rapid holster

Hit and Run, stay behind enemy lines, capture, imitate, hack and disrupt - let soldiers do the grunt work, you're an Op.

Kross - Adjusted Iron Sights, Silencer, Speed Sling, Drum Mag.
Sea Eagle - Adjusted Iron Sights, Silencer, Speed Holster, High Capacity Mag.

My default set up (for any and all light classes):

Carb-9: COGA scope, Muzzle break, duct-tape magazine, front grip.
Belgo: Muzzle break, adjusted iron sights, and... something else that I don't remember :P

And as for abilities, I suggest you purchase the caltrop grenade as soon as possible. Not only do you get plenty of XP from it, but it's nice to know the enemy is being damaged by you simaltaniously as you are hacking your objective :celebration:

Personally, I find a Bulpdaun SMG with a Greeneye, foregrip, and muzzle brake to be unstoppable as long as your secondary (which is totally up to personal preference) is suppressed. Keep your secondary out until a firefight breaks out, in which case you can hit-and-run from a decent range while your enemies shake their fists at you and begin to shoot eachother out of paranoia.

Well, I guess I can't say what everyone else hasn't already. I play light op as well and I stick with galactic and belgo, silencers on both, other attachments vary but not too much. Also I would suggest getting silent running when you can, it helps somewhat with sneaking around. Hey, you can always run up behind someone and slide into him or melee him with a knife right.

For me,

Barnett / greeneye / muzzlebreak / speed sling

Hockler / adjusted iron sights / speed sling

It's funny, i have never found a use for silencers in brink or in any other game. :P

With my light medic I mostly use my Galactic, it has good long/short range balance.
For close, you should rather a carb-9 or a kross smg..
And for secondary, I use the tokmak, or the kalt both great guns.
Now for their equipments:
-Galactic: duct tape, adjusted iron sights, speed sling and a muzzle
-Kross: duct tape, adjusted iron sights, speed sling and a muzzle
-Carb-9: duct tape or drum, yeotek sights (hate the irons), speed sling or grip for longer range, and ofcourse a muzzle
-Tokmak: rapid fire, iron sight (not adjusted), muzzle and speed holster
-Kalt: rapid fire, iron sight (not adjusted), muzzle and speed holster

I never use silencers, that's because i never use the mini-map, i think it kinda annoying..
That's why i dont use silencers.

Hope it helped (:

Well, as a light I would go with the Carb 9 and Sea Eagle.

Also, lol @ people saying "go behind enemy lines and disrupt the enemy". That's fine in theory but it's not what actually happens. The only thing the Operative is good for is hack objectives and farming XP, once in a while you'll hack a turret which is fairly worthless considering it won't be pointing at your enemies. You're basically saying "[censored] you" to your team when you're playing this class beyond a hack objective.

Just because you're %$@& at being an Operative, doesn't mean everybody else is.

I spend plenty of time causing absolute chaos behind enemy lines.

Especially with Stickies and decent teammates.

You never resist an opportunity to jump on my nuts, do you?

I find a Drognav with a silencer, red dot, and rapid fire can work really well if you put the first shot in the head, when dealing with Lights just put your marker on 'em instead, it takes away their greatest strength, as for heavies, wait for your teammates to injure them.

I've been struggling using a Light Op... I just seem to get splattered left, right & centre. Mainly because all my other Lights have some degree of buff to work off... I much prefer to run Op on a Medium.

At the moment I have my Light Op/Soldier running a Kross w/ Yeotek RDS, Suppressor, Foregrip & High-cap Mags, but you could swap to a Carb if you find you aren't engaging people at range that often and the Kross is taking too long to kill people. I don't silence my sidearm, because Pistol & Machine Pistol Muzzle Brakes seem to make a HUGE difference to stability... a Sea Eagle w/ Brake & Rapid Fire has about half the kick of a Sea Eagle w/ Suppressor & High-cap Mags. That, and the sidearms are panic weapons anyway. You can't really afford to gimp them, but you can afford to momentarily reveal your location if it's a life/death situation.

I provide evidence that you're wrong when I see it. Don't feel singled out, I do it to everyone. If you post something I agree strongly enough with, I'm just as strong on your side.

And I'm doing less for my team than the others...

So when 5 teammates launch a direct attack against a chokepoint, and get wiped. Soon afterwards, but with enough time for the enemy to reinforce, I attack with 2 other players, and we break the enemy defenses. I personally got 2 of the 6 kills, not counting the Op I'd taken down while taking the long way to the chokepoint. That's a fair share when you're splitting 3 ways... And I'm pretty sure we wouldn't have has as clear an idea of the enemy position if I hadn't done a Comms Hack right before the Disguise. Knowing the enemy were bunched up meant the Soldier's Molotov was already lined up before he ran in. Having a Medic marked before they ran in meant my friends could focus-fire and make sure he stayed down.

Even without taking my specific abilities into account, if 3 players can do what 5 couldn't, I'm pretty sure we all held our own, regardless of class.

So again, just because you're not good at being Op, doesn't mean good Ops aren't useful team members.

EDIT: @Pangolin - sometimes having a non-silenced weapon is an advantage when it comes to stealth as an Operative - people don't watch their radar as often as their Combat Intuition prompt, and radar doesn't give them as much to work with - if you're about to try and hit someone you think (or know) is using CI, pull a non-silenced weapon, fire a shot, switch back, and fire - you'll only show up on people's radar for about a second, but it'll give you the drop on the person you're about to shoot - lets you take time to line up a headshot before opening up.
