Creating a Paladin Class in Oblivion

Post » Tue Nov 29, 2011 2:04 am

Sorry if this is so off-topic, some of the other forums don't seem to have many people in them. I'm going to be making a paladin class in oblivion. What Race should I be ? Also What attributes, birthsign and class tendency should I pick up?

Sorry but it doesn't matter if people didn't respond to you in the Oblivion forums, it doesn't warrant you posting stuff about Oblivion in the Skyrim Forums.

No attributes, no birthsigns(only Guardian stones)

Skills; 1h, block, restoration, heavy armor, alteration

He wants to make paladin class in Oblivion not in Skyrim.

Lol, sorry nobody would give you the time to answer your question.

For a pally class I would go for a breton as your race, they have the perfect balance of weapon skills and magic

I would use for your main skills, Block, Heavy Armor, Blunt or blade (your choice), Destruction, Restoration, Illusion, and maybe Conjuration. You can tweak this to your liking, but that is what I used to use when I played

Nordmerc's class looks pretty good from a traditional D&D paladin standpoint. However, you really don't need Conjuration as a skill with Ritual as the turn lesser power is a spell that will effect any undead in the game. You could use Conj for lower level casts and what not, but in that case another birthsign should be good. Also, I don't like it when your Conj skill gets over 70 and people say you smell of death and ask if you have been conjuring undead.....

You could put in Blunt for role play and to use the Crusader's Mace. You could use Illusion for Charm, more an ES type sill than D&D. You could also use marksman for slaying evil monsters, no chivalric code prevents that.

Some people also like to use Destruction for a 'Smite Evil' type spell, or fire spells, aka purification by fire like Ahura Mazda

Yeah, I was kinda iffy on the conjuration one. The 7th skill would be kind of flexible from a DND pov.

Race:Imperial
Attributes: Strength, Personality or Endurance, Personality
Sign: The Ritual
Skills: Blade, Blunt, Block, Conjuration, Heavy Armor, Illusion, Restoration

And there is a mod that disables the NPC's ability to comment on your skills if you don't want them commenting on your restoration.

Race: Not really important, but Imperials and Dunmer have the most balanced stats for a melee-magic hybrid. The Breton is also very good.
Sign: The Mage since a bonus to magic is always nice. The Ritual if you want to Role-Play, or do a typical D&D style Paladin.
Attributes: Willpower and either Strength or Endurance.
Skills:
1. Haevy Armor
2. Block
3. Blade or Blunt
4. Restoration
5. Alteration
6. Illusion
7. Mysticism

Note: The attributes should be kept flexible and changed depending on race due to the great diversity in starting attributes.

Bretons tend to make the best pallys since they have the most resistance and 2nd most magicka. I would go with either the warrior or the mage for birthsign.

As an alternatie to my previous post you can use this:

Breton
The Warrior
Endurance and Agility
Blade
Blunt
Heavy Armor
Block
Restoration
Alteration
Illusion

This is a Paladin character I made a long time ago. I know Agility is a strange choice, but with the starting value of 30 and no related skills the 5 point bonus is very useful. Blade and Blunt is a bit overkill, but I like to have it so meh. Armorer is a very good skill, but I generally take it up as a minor skills since it is bound to get leveled very high due to it's frequent use by melee based characters.

Another alternative is to use the pre-made Crusader class, which is quite paladin-ish(and is my favorite class in the game):
Race: Any
Sign: The Mage is recomended, or the Atronach if you can manage the Stunted Magica. The Warrior if you are playing a Breton or Altmer since they already have a respectable amount of magica.
Attributes: Strength and Willpower
Skills: Blade, Blunt, H2H, Heavy Armor, Athletics, Restoration and Destruction.
Then again having all Strength skills and only one Endurance skill might put some people off.

I'm currently playing a semi-Paladin build using FCOM. My characters backstory led him to be what I called "Fallen Paladin"... not an evil character per say, but he delved out into the world of alchemy and lock picking after being falsely accused of a crime (long story), something a true Paladin would never do.

The build I am using:

Race: Nord
Sign: The Warrior
Attributes: Strength and Endurance

Major Skills:
Armorer
Blade
Heavy Armor
Block
Light Armor
Athletics
Restoration

I am just about level 10 (FCOM is tough!), and I am really enjoying the build, although, like I said I am using some of my minor skills as well. The only regret that I have is choosing Heavy and Light armor, but I justified it by telling myself that a true Paladin would probably be trained in all of the defensive arts.
