Creating your Character, MarksTats not viewable

Post » Wed Mar 19, 2014 5:26 pm

Hi Folks,

I noticed on a few of the toons I made, you couldn't see things very well. Example the High Elf, most of the body markings weren't viewable because they were done in a tone close to the skin color pallet. Scars weren't very visible either on them, and several others, well body marks, face marks were highly visible. Did any of you notice these types of issues?

I love this game this was just something I had noticed :)

Some of the body markings were decorative scarring, which explains the poor visibility. There were those yellow paint/tattoo markings, which must have only showed up well on dunmer. The system would really benefit from giving the player the ability to change the marking colors.

There are also some body markings that are very, very subtle. I was making a Dunmer, and said to myself (in a somewhat annoyed tone), "There's nothing showing up. What's the marking supposed to be?" Then, I zoomed in. And noticed that one of the settings were for a mole on the shoulder blade. Nope, you're (and I) will probably rarely see things like this with the gear, but I was still impressed about the artists doing things like that.

Now, if only they'd do something about the hairstyles and facial hair...

Yes. Would be nice to have more hairstyles.

I had a full body tatoo which showed through on light armor. I thought it looked cool

The character creator is a bit on the primitive side.

- No markers for the 'indents' on sliders to give you an idea of where you're at (even basic numbering is better than nothing at all).

- Several settings that should be separate sliders are glommed together as one setting.

- There's no ability to alter the colors of tats so they're actually visible on certain skin tones.

- Skin tones themselves seem like an afterthought, with many of the choices in a given range not making a noticeable difference on the character itself.

The whole character creator needs a makeover, but I'm doubtful that it will actually happen before release at this point. It's one of the worst I've seen in recent years.
