Creation Kit and You...

Post » Tue Jul 20, 2010 7:50 am

So when Skyrim is finally released and the Creation Kit not long after as well, what will you mod into the game, what have you on planned on doing so far? Also what features/improvements do you hope they add to the Kit? I hope they implement a better landscaping tool, one that is more user friendly. Maybe even a better pathgrid generator, one that automatically adjusts according to landscape changes, or maybe I'm just going to far... can't be too optimistic. :P

I for one have already decided on making a town/city (I'm not sure how big it will be until I get started on it.) I've already completed a layout and I've planned that it'll be situated in its own world space.

A quest, simple to start but if I can manage to pull it off I will expand on it :)

Give a shot at letting the player make custom spells in game too, this one is more ambitious, hopefully someone will beat me to it.

the pathgrid for fallout was improved a lot so I think they will have it, I hope they fix the landscaping thing where you can only have a certain number of terrains in one cell, they didnt do that will fallout so I am kinda worried

my first mod is going to be a dwemer dungeon that will be very hard and throughout it you get special prizes (one of them is gonna be a gun that you can only use as a club)

also the only thing I can make 3d models of is weapons so all of those are going into the game

It might actually be fun considering now that the NPCs actually do things.

I might make a weather mod if I'm unhappy with the weather and how it looks in Skyrim. Got like 800 photos ready to be converted to textures so...

Maybe a few retextures of general stuff as well.

Perhaps even a quest mod if I can understand the dialouge and scripting system better than I did in Morrowind.

Most likely remove quest markers and compass icons and such permanently, if they are in the game and can't be toggled off.

Depends on what I think of the game after it releases. And if I really want to get into modding.

If so, I feel like I may lend a hand at solving whatever problems Skyrim may be plagued with. Perhaps make the game more balanced in the eyes of myself and others. I'm not talking about making a full fledged overhaul mod, but maybe re-balancing some aspects that need better balancing.

And, if the new leveling system doesn't work out to be up to snuff, I may work to bring back the old system, plus some desperately needed improvements for it. But again, this is if I really get into modding.

More than likely, I won't end up modding the game at all and will just sit back and wait until others create things to my liking, on account of myself being lazy and being in tech school after Skyrim releases.

I never got into modding Fallout 3 so I wouldn't know to what extent they improved the path grids. I did do some modding in FNV, but nothing that was finished or released or that tempted me to fiddle with the path grids system. This wicked looking http://www.newvegasnexus.com/imageshare/images/2535081-1296866518.jpeg is just an example of one of unfinished mods for FNV. Unfortunately I lost it when I had to reinstall Windows. :sadvaultboy:

Yeah, it will be quite fun to play around with the AI this time round, also looking at the trailer it looks like they've added quite a few activity-like animations to the game. One of the main things that disappointed me with Oblivion was the lack of animations which could've made the world feel more alive.

Honestly I will play the game before putting any mods on.. at that time I will probably see what has been released first. My modding experience is very slim to none. The only thing I have done is create weapons and items.

Some small stuff to get the hang of it, and then possibly quests if I have the time.

No doubt I'll be tinkering with the inevitable shortcomings the game will have, provided no one has already done that for me beforehand. Hopefully there won't be that many things I don't agree with. Fallout 3 had less issues for me than Oblivion did so I suspect that Skyrim will have even less again. So far I'm liking the sounds of how things will work at any rate. I'm guessing that I'm not going to like how quickly my character will level up though.

I hope you do! Your Kragenir's Death Quest mod is pretty sweet so far in my game. :D

I hope you can view more than one exterior cell at a time. That will take the creation kit into this century!

The only thing I might mod, or hopefully someone else will do for me (I've never modded anything besides making a custom race in Oblivion) when I get the game, is to make what-shall-not-be-spoken-of doable.

I can't really tell you until the game is out. I can't remove, edit, add or expand on anything until I know what I is in the game and I want to do.

The only enclave parts I used were the bunker metal pieces or whatever you want to call them, and as you can see the forcefield, which I think is also considered 'enclave-ish'.

I just hope it's easier to edit cells. I had an impossible time editing cells in Oblivion. I didn't know the controls (if there were any) to move the angle of the view, so I always had a birds-eye view and couldn't add anything.

a dilapidated fortess ddedicated to using all the "economy" features in Skyrim to support a bastion of defence against an ever worsening Dragon attack, depending if thats already in game (a worsening environment independent of the Player after a certain time in the game) So you would enlist survivors from the 9 villages (was once cities but cities are still in seperate exteriors...so yeah...) and use them to mount up a last stand of sorts.

Mod Back in Spell creation if it isnt already in, They had Spell creation spell comboing and Combining Dragon shouts already, but took them out because it was "confusing" (they are working on spell comboing again last i heard)but I intend on seeing a Realtime Spell creation system that uses one hand/2 hand animations for the proccess, and you just tune the spell that you want and then burn it into memory for your spell book...intelligence WOULD have effected how many spells you could have, and spell effects you could learn but thats out....so are spell effects atm....they are just scripted spells now....so far.

Attributes were once in skyrim as well, hopefully what ruled them in still viewable in the CS

Alter the perks system, thinks like an Axe causing bleeding Damage or a blunt weapon ignoring armor really should just be inherent effects of certain weapons, inplace of these would be more meaningful effects like critically injuring a foe and reducing there battle effectiveness by a drastic percentage, in Oblivion a Foe could be at a sliver of health and STILL fight at full strenght so thats another aspect I look forward to.

I won't do it but probably someone will -Open cities Skyrim edition- because theres nothing like seeing a trade or supply convoy disappear at the city gates, and when you follow them they are all clumped up at the door cycling their AI to keep moving.

add dangers to the Carriage system IF they are not in already.

add even more scenarios the the RS Random event system, since Skyrim is using an advanced version of FO3's randoms I hope to see some sixyness with that as well.

I'm also with the crowd who hopes that that editing cells, and editing Multiple cells is easier, I also hope for more robust and streamlined control of multiple NPC's

I'd like to make new haircuts, weapons, clothes and armors. :) I have many ideas in my head, I hope I'll be able to turn a few of them into nice meshes and textures.
Eventually I'd like to make a few creatures, but I'm not good at animating (walking animations are really difficult)

I have plans to build some dungeons. Looking forward to playing through a bunch of them first before I actually start making anything... I kinda prefer to see that stuff in-game first rather than getting first peeps in the editor.
