If I open up the window for a Magic Effect and click on the Add button for Papyrus Scripts in the lower right, Creation Kit crashes. Windows gives a message saying "Creation Kit has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." This happens even if I just have Skyrim.esm and a new blank plugin file loaded. Am I missing a step before adding a script? Is clicking that button not the first step?

I also had Steam validate my files, and it didn't download anything when it finished.

can you access the script manager list?

and/or can you open other scripts already attached to objects?

if not, there's probably some prob with your papyrus complier installation (do you have it's subfolder in skyrim folder?)

I'm not sure of other scripts already attached to objects that I could try to open, I've never seen any already attached. But I tried to open the Script Manager, and it crashed too.

There is a Skyrim\Papyrus Compiler folder that isn't empty, so I think that it's installed at least.

I'm still having this issue, and it makes my modding abilities rather limited it seems. Has anyone else experienced a problem like this?

do you have a "scripts" folder in your data directory? iirc extracted overrides bsa, so maybe you like extracted it, deleted extracted folder empty and now empty folder overrides bsa-scripts, stg like that (yeah stupid theory, i know... just poking in the dark myself there...
