Creation Kit for Xbox 360/PS3?

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 1:45 pm

Because microsoft and sony want to be able to monitor what goes into they're systems. Think about it nvde mods, is that something MS and Sony want to be a part of? Plus it would also be difficult as they would have to section off some of the texture and visual enhancement mods because the console wouldn't be able to cope with it. So for this console generation I think it's a definite no.

They have Saints Row: The Third on consoles, I think the're okay with nudity.

A console wouldn't be able to handle a creation kit!

mods for console would be made on a computer, just like the game is. they dont make console games on the actual consoles.

The CS barely functioned well on PC, I can well imagine what the CK would do to consoles, you need to keep in mind for these things to function they have to load the assets into memory, last I looked, consoles have limited memory.

Yes but THQ and Volition are professional companies. MS and S know whats going in to the game. We're talking about mods made by members of the general public. It's impossible for microsoft and sony to monitor them all.

Why would I want a creation kit? I could see using it but I bought the game to play it as they made it... only I didn't know it would be so broken that I wouldn't be able to finish it completely. A creation kit is a good idea, I'm not saying they shouldn't do it... I simply feel like they should fix the broken quests b4 they do anything else AT ALL! And btw their post did say that a minor fix for the problems they CREATED with the 1.2 patch will be out next week... but they also stated that the creation kit will be out b4 they start fixing the quests in january... I'm sorry if I expected a complete and functioning game after waiting years to play this game... I didn't think that was too much to ask for my 60 dollars. People that do think that is too much to expect must enjoy living their lives getting screwed over and having horribly low expectations.

I'm pretty sure that anything that gets through The Nexus's sensors would be okay for Microsoft. Also these companies are at less risk if other people make these mods because it will be the creators fault if anything happened.

Modding Bethesda games is slightly more complex than a save game editor the OP assumes it is. A quick glance at both the oblivion and fallout modding forums should make that clear.

I know that, but for consoles, that would be about the best we could hope for.

Modding the save file really isn't going to do anything for you unless you want to add items/perks/skills/etc that are already in the game. Basically the same kind of stuff you can do with the command console on a PC. You need to modify the actual game files to do anything useful such as modify or create new perks.

As many of you already know Sony first released the PS3 it had a home brew kit. Sony quickly turned it off. One of the PS3 user hacked the console and got the home brew working again. He posted how to do it online and Sony sued him. I don't think we will ever see a kit that will allow console user to make their own content for a game like you have on the PC. Ridiculous is what I say. I bought the hardware I should be able to do what I want with it.

Now I know the usual answer is "Microsoft/Sony wouldn't allow it", but how can that be true? This game is 100% Offline, and to get a mod on the console you would just be loading a custom saved-game file from off the internet, so how would Microsoft/Sony have any say in that?

For instance, I still play ESPN NFL 2K5, and I download custom rosters and franchise files from off the internet. How do people make these files? By an editor someone made and put online for people to use. With this editor, people can completely customize teams, players, contracts, schedules, etc.

So my question is, seeing as a CK for consoles would be EXACTLY the same as this user-created editor, why would Bethesda be unable to put one out for the consoles?

AND, if they're not allowed to, what would be stopping someone from modding the PC CK so that it could work with the Xbox/PS3 instead of the PC?

Simple fact is your PS3 or 360 couldn't handle all the information for a creation kit for a game this size. Yeah I have seen a few older games where you can make basic arena levels on an in game editor, but nothing of TES magnitude.

I won't be going near next gens if they don't ease up on this issue. I've learnt my lesson with 360 so next time will just wait a bit longer and save for a decent gaming rig.

No. For example Tes Nexus has a tentacle [censored] mod. I am not kidding.

*Prepares generic response used for all of these threads*

Mods are complicated as hell to install. There is no way to make ini tweaks, change load orders, merge specific parts of seperate mods, or directly edit game files on the consoles. And building mods on the consoles..?

Insane. <_<

this topic has been discussed so many times including myself the answer is simply no and the chance for next gen to have them is minimal at best tough i'm in favor of console mods to state where i stand on the matter
