Creature Lore Discussion

Post » Tue Feb 22, 2011 4:02 am

Hello everyone i made this topic to discuss various creatures of lore, we probably know most of the basics but i want to know if theres anyone who knows of any unusual fantasy creatures that could be implemented into Skyrim, just let it flow i want to hear everything you know.

EDIT: i was thinking a Wendigo, a creature that was once a man but was remotely stranded from society and had to resort to cannibalism to survive, after eating many of his comrades, wendigos form from the inhuman thirst for more flesh, see eating flesh of your own gives you power and you eat enough of it, this is the result, but wendigos are to be feared, they are lightning fast and can only truly be hurt by fire, and look humanoid, but much different, they can mimic a human voice and often toy and confuse determined hunters that usually think there tracking a bear or something before brutally slaughtering and eating them. wendigos are mentioned on various rpgs like ff8 and my favorite tv show supernatural and many other things, the legend comes from the Cree Indians.

Oops, wrong mythology.

But yeah, we have seen a couple unique creatures in Bloodmoon, so odds are, the mainland of Skyrim has to sport some interesting creatures as well. Also on your Wendingo comment, http://www.monstropedia.org/index.php?title=Draug which I garuntee will be featured in the game are very similar in the respects of the whole cannibal thing.

The Willow Wisp also behaved like that, in that it would use a human voice to lure people out into the woods where they would be eaten by bears.

Hmmm, I read in a book i found in morrowind, about a unique and sinister type of vampires that lives beneath frozen lakes in caves in Skyrim, and they have the power to go through the ice without breaking it. Dont remember what they was called though :/

Yup, there are screenshots of Draug in the Gameinformer article, though they are referred to as 'Draugr'.

Well i have the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1151537-creatures-monsters-beasts/ thread up still but there is one lore creature that I'm glad is in Skyrim.

The Ice Wraith.

The northern and western Holds -- Winterhold, Eastmarch, Rift, and the Pale, known collectively as the Old Holds -- remain more isolated, by geography and choice, and the Nords there still hold true to the old ways. Outsiders are a rarity, usually a once-yearly visit from an itinerant peddler. The young men go out for weeks into the high peaks in the dead of winter, hunting the ice wraiths that give them claim to full status as citizens (a laudable practice that could serve as a model for the more "civilized" regions of the Empire). - http://www.imperial-library.info/content/pocket-guide-empire-first-edition-skyrim

And I like how they made them as wind serpents and not just like ghost looking. I expected them to be ghosts as that's what i picture a wraith as http://www.google.com/images?um=1&hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&tbs=isch:1&&sa=X&ei=DK0tTafAKYT68Ab31_ysCg&ved=0CDIQBSgA&q=ringwraith&spell=1&biw=1024&bih=574 but I like their wind serpent screenshot from the magazine article better. That's a much cooler idea and look to them.

And the Draugr as well but i expected them to be in it, I wasn't sure about the Ice Wraiths.

i thought a fitting creature to add also would be a hydra, since theres around 20 dragons in the game i figured add some different kinds, it would get old fast if you had to fight the same old dragon all the time.

that would be cool, so long as they don't look like cirodiil vamps, they look like they have pink-eye, i think they should look like morrowind vamps, white eyes, evil voice distortion.
EDIT: what would be cool is if you could gene-splice all vamps into one, a true dracula of the races, just imagine that, it be like drake from blade 3

EDIT: how about a bandersnatch? giant wild dog and i mean giant, it would be up to the chest of that giant on the screenshot.
