Creatures: How many will we get?

Speaking of mudcrabs, I wonder if they'll be non-hostile now. Hopefully.

Anybody know if they are adding some sort of cold elemental creature or something like that?

Frost dragons, frost atronachs, ice wraiths... unless that's not what you're talking about.

Mudcrabs are malicious bastards. They're the reason there are no kids in Morrowind & Oblivion. Luckily, Skyrim is too cold for the 'mud' genus.

So far, Skyrim has about 20 confirmed creatures (Draughr, Skeletons, Trolls, Giants, Ice Wraiths, Giant Spiders, Dragons, Wolves, Horses, Elk, Mammoths, Saber-Toothed Tigers, Centurion Spheres, Dogs, Skeevers, Bears, Rabbits, Horkers, Dragon Priests and Ice Atronachs).

Dont forget horkers! But, I do expect more creatures than in Oblivion. Watching the Gameinformer vid about Skyrim Art, I saw an illustration of what apeared like a Spriggan or Dryad. I'm hoping for creatures that come mostly out of Norse Mythology, maybe some Slavic, and of course, the ES twist on their design. I'm very happy they are making the creatures more involved in their world, having places to live, things to hunt, etc.

Horkers are there! I do wonder how they'll look though. The concept art of a walrus-like creatures makes me wonder if they've undergone a redesign.

Not doing this to get flamed, But I want Cliff Racers to come back. Mainly because once you've played morrowind you're pretty much get used to the annoyance forever, Not to mention I want to come back on the forums and read all the 'I HATE CLIFF RACERS' threads.

It's actually going to be a swarm of cliff racers that defeat Alduin.

Don't forget the Daedra. Hope they don't expect us just to deal with Dremora again. None confirmed, but it almost wouldn't be TES without them.

Todd said the Deadra will be making a return but not all of the old ones will be in along with some new ones too.(please don't make me dig it up)

Didn't Oblivion have groups of wild horses anyway? Not that Skyrim will be the same.

They are there but super rare. In over 1500 hrs I've only encountered them about a half a dozen times.

I only want to see one. Just as he spots me and starts doing his slow fall squawk directly overhead a dragon will take it in mid flight and swallow it whole. Then I will hear it's muffed squawks as i'm fighting and killing the dragon. It will then be over as it burns up with the dragon's corpse.

Cliff Racers.....lots and lots of Cliff Racers

And I can almost guarantee that if they're in the game, one of the first mods out for it will be one that completely removes them from the spawning lists.

I actually love the idea of cliff racers borrowing some of that Dragon Flight Mechanics, they would be just like miny dragon battles. but in packs. I honestly don't see whats wrong with them, so long as BGS dosent make them spawn faster then any other animal, in Morrowind they where only annoying because of the never ending swarms of them.

That might take away from the unique feel of the dragons though. I'd prefer not to see Cliff Racers in this one for that reason.

But Winged Twilights are a different story, those things are awesome.

You forgot to add foxes to the list. But I think at least 1.5-2 times that of OB.

I'm hoping there are still some "big" creature types yet to be revealed; some more classical fantasy monsters to fill out the dragons and giants, perhaps something from Norse mythology.

A large, high-level water-dwelling monster is something I missed in the previous two games, and would be cool terrifying to discover in Skyrim.

Hopefully some familiar Daedra will be back (Scamps, Winged Twilights, Clannfear, Hungers), which needn't be factored into Skyrim's ecosystem. We've seen a dragon priest with a summoned atronach, so I'm betting on at least two or three more varieties of Daedroth to summon.

Oh God yes! Imagine, Winged Twighlights capable of true flight! Given the examples of dragons flight I don't think it would be a stretch to enable other creatures to fly about.

lol i noticed!

Anyway, we clearly need more variety but not more of the same crap! No more real animals which we already see at the zoo! This may be the first and last time we ever get to be in skyrim! They should fill it up with unique creatures from the lore as well as creatures not seen in other regions!
