Solstheim is actually an island, not part of Morrowind. It is one of the few Tamrielic territories that isn't part of a province in the (now-defunct Empire). You could expect to see some animals from Solstheim in Skyrim. Not Morrowind. That's just silly.

However, one animal from Morrowind I suppose you'll be seeing a lot of in Skyrim is Dunmer. Following the genocidal conquering of Morrowind by the Argonians, most Dunmer have fled, either to Solstheim, Cyrodiil, or Skyrim. So one 'animal of Morrowind' will definately be present.

Is that like in Norse mythology, Níeh?ggr (Malice Striker, often anglicized Nidhogg) the dragon who gnaws at a root of the World Tree, Yggdrasill. A fearsome creature hundreds of feet long, and had a scaly hide so tough no blade could pierce it. The Devouring Wyrm a grey spiralling serpent with the head in the center and the tail at the exterior that gnaws at the roots of an immense tree that is central in Norse cosmology; the world tree, and around the tree exist nine worlds.

No. Nidhogg and Jormungandr are different creatures, though the Nidhogg is also a creature that could take part.

Jormungandr is one of Loki's three children (Fenris-somethingorother and Hel being the other two). He's a giant serpent that surrounds Midgard (one of the nine worlds) and is long enough to bite his own tail, around the world of men. He plays a big role in Ragnarok in that when he unwinds, the world will be destroyed and he will do battle with Thor and slay him. He is a serpentine creature, but not the Nidhogg, who's head is buried at the center of the world where, as you said, he gnaws on Yggdrasill.

Have lycanthropes been confirmed?!? If so that is awesome.

@ OP, i like your ideas for creatures and think they would fit, although i would merely like the Doppelganger to be a unique creature, a bit like the Underfyke Matron in Tes IV.

Agree with everyone, more creatures and more danger.

What I am most looking forward to is fighting Einherjar-like creatures, if they decide to implement them.

The Einherjar are the fallen viking warriors, brought to Valhalla, fighting all day, feasting all night. In Age of Mythology they implemented them in a wonderful way, as malevolent, undead spirits, their fighting vigor alive within them, taking vengeance on the cowardly and the tricky in the mortal realm. Kind of like a terminator slaughtering folks on the battle field. I'm hoping for a skeletal champion, but with a bit more design and creativity than just giving him a bigger sword... Let's see some full body armor on the champions of a skeleton Nord army! The Norse are buried with their valuables, after all!

The Midgard Serpent and the World Serpent. As Midgard is the world of men, the term "World Serpent" has sometimes been applied to Jormungandr. However, I understand your point. Unfortunately, I've never done any reading that says Jormungandr is a 'worm.' Perhaps a 'wyrm' in that he is a wingless dragon, a long wizard or snake. But a segmented annelid worm? Meh... Not so much. I also don't think I'd be frightened by a big earth worm. Nor could a big worm kill a God. >.> It could maybe catch a God Fish?

I didnt mean "worm", that was me that translated it wrong cause i have only read the Norse mythology in danish where "ORM" means worm and serpent, that was mistake on my part sorry

Did you play Morrowind's expansion Bloodmoon?

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Bloodmoon:Undead are in that game and are suppose to have been inspired by Norse mythology. The draugr was an undead creature believed to inhabit the tombs of dead viking warriors.

Unfortunately I came to the Elder Scrolls fairly late. I played Oblivion first, and by the time I knew Morrowind existed.. well... let's just say the graphics sort of killed me. I never played Bloodmoon, sadly enough!

At any rate, I want to see some more suggestions for creatures! Come on, people, you can't be so uncreative!

I'd like to see big, deadly and ancient snow monsters/creatures. Really big ones...

Something I'd also like in really icy places, is ice statues (of warriors, etc). And then, I'd like SOME of those ice statues to come alive when you come close... and attack you.

Not really, no. They should be... in normal size... perhaps a bit bigger, like 1.5x your own size. But not 15x your size like in those clips :D

Who wants lake and riverr monsters. If you do leave suggestions under this post.

More monsters etc in the water would be nice.It would make it more of a challenge to swim.
Off topic: I would also like the ability to fish for food or to trade....its a RPG we can hunt etc....why not fishing too....just a thought.
Merry christmas everyone :)

Rather than adding a large number of monster types, I would rather they focus on making it a different experience to fight different kinds of monsters. In most cases, you could replace the graphics of all the monsters in Oblivion with floating cubes and it wouldn't produce a tactical disadvantage, because you approach every kind of enemy the same way.

I agree. They should also make different types of monsters in a certain genus I.E. if you see a white wolf in a snowy area, you would think to use fire spells. But we need more types, including more original beasts E.G. nix hounds.

I would like to see a creature that was like a wolf, but had some cockroach like features.

Roach-wolves! And demon polar bears, frost dragons, rabid yetis, giant enemy snow crabs, and ice behemoths! :tops:

Seriously though, i think trolls in the style of uderfrykte matron would be cool. White wolves as well (pure white, bigger than Oblivion wolves, and they travel in packs lead by an alpha. That would make a good challenge).

Also, CLIFF RACERS!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that there should be more real life creatures and different breeds, instead of for exampel all wolves looking the same, but I don't want them to add many new mythical creatures as I think it woudl be weird lorewise as you would wonder where they came from...

Also like having to appproach different creatures in different ways...

I'm interested in seeing the results of lycanthropy taken to the extreme. Maybe a Demi-God wolf blessed by Hircine, a Fenrir type creature, a God-Wolf. In Old Norse he is referred to as Fenrisúlfr. At Ragnarok, he is foretold to kill Odin, the High Father, so a god-wolf, Daedra-blessed, could be the goal of some Hircine cult? Would be rather interesting.

Hircine is the Daedra Huntsmaster, correct? I'm afraid my knowledge of the norse outways my knowledge of the Elder Scrolls.

It would be very interesting to see witches on a game as villain, or on a very mysterious and frightening quest, maybe a bad witch somewhere inside a deep forest would be just fine, and a good one of course

Is the Good Witch named Glinda? Do we defeat the bad witch by dropping a house on her?

In Skyrim there is an entire area (and perhaps a city, I forget) under the control of a 'Witch.' So this could be worked in. However, it's as of yet unknown if she is inherently bad for being a witch, or simply a rogue mage with some powerful sorcery.
