Creatures that hunt confirmed!

Post » Tue May 03, 2011 3:42 am

Hey just read the nowgamer article and Todd Howard was talking about the radiant system and said "These guys also set it up so when wolves hunt, they hunt in packs. If they kill something, like a mammoth". I had a hunch that it would be in the game when I saw the picture of the polar bear over the dead mammoth with vultures flying around the body. Guys this is huge, in oblivion it seemed like it was only one wolf at a time fighting you and creatures seemed to never fight each other. In fallout it got better but the creatures would only fight each other. But you never got the feeling that they are actually hunting. If they pull it off to the point where I really feel like I'm getting hunted or there are creatures hunting another creatures and actually eating the creature this game will be the most advanced game in history! Comment and tell me your thoughts!!!

Important edit!!!

The full quote is "These guys also set it up so when wolves hunt, they hunt in packs. If they kill something, like a mammoth – and we’ll chat more about these at E3 – they’ll hang out by it for a while." Now I didnt post this initially because It didnt make sense how they wrote it, but basically he was saying that the wolves will hang around the kill for a while. Here is the article http://www.nowgamer.com/features/1316/elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-bethesda-interview?o=0#listing.

Here is the polar bear pic over the dead mammoth http://gaminghud.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Elder-Scrolls-5-Skyrim-Dual-Wield.jpg

I wouldn't exactly call it the most advanced game in history, but it's definitely a feature that will improve the feeling of immersion into a world that feels alive.

I own red dead redemption and yes you feel like you are getting hunted sometimes, but I've never seen a animal actively hunt another animal for the sake of surviving. Like I said no other game does this...

Oh and notice how the tusk is partially covered with snow, indicating that the mammoth has been dead for a while...

Yeah and on top of that it was a mod, and was not part of the original game...

that is going to be pretty cool. I thought it was awesome when cougars hunted you in RDR. Every time I got hunted by one, or it killed my horse I always went FRIK! I hate these things! It was a good hate though. I felt some satisfaction with the immersion that was going on.

Tommuch hassle to find it myself since I'm using an iPod right now but I'm pretty sure it was mentioned in one of the articles on Bethblog, I could be wrong though.

Yeah I remember getting hunted in tall trees by the cougars I felt like I could die in any instant because you never see them coming and their so fast, I just want that feeling in skyrim too. Especially with the huge variety in creatures... I can say I would like to get hunted by a werewolf that would be cool, just hope they make it in the game!

Sounds good. Just as having wild and nature creatures not always attacking the player on sight is a good and more realistic thing.

Wow that's really cool. And it's new info to me (even though some people are saying it is old), even though i've followed Skyrim pretty closely. So thanks for letting us know.
