creepiest moment

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 6:33 pm

hi guys,
so like the title says what part of the game creeped you out the most?

was it walking through the swaps at midnight? or perhaps facing a deadly minotaur?

post your answers here :)

Remember Vilverin, right at the start?

Yeah, when I opened the second hidden wall and a zombie was RIGHT THERE!

That was scary.

I'll wait and come back and edit this after it's moved to the spoilers section.....

*edit* -- Took a lot longe for this to be moved than I thought it would, but I was sure it would be sooner or later. There's just no way to discuss really creepy things in the game without some spoilers.

Easily, in my opinion, the creepiest part of the game is going into the Anvil lighthouse basemant near the end of the DB quest-line. There's just no more appropriate word for that place than creepy.

Cadlew Chapel is a bit creepy too, but that's more about juxtaposition-- you're just out for a stroll in a beautiful forest and run across a picturesque little chapel in a secluded meadow and walk in the door and..... ugh.

When I went though the Dungeons of Ivellon, Gates to Aesgaard, Haunted House Questline and The Oubliette questmods. 100% guaranteed you will have to turn on the lights in your room, as you'll hardly have the guts to play them in the dark.

A little example in Dungeons of Ivellon...
Spoiler
(note that it's a pitch-black dungeon, so you've to use a Light spell or torches, or you won't see anything)...at some point, you enter a dining room with an armored skeleton sit on a chair. Then you look at some note, your journal updates...and the skeleton is suddenly gone. I won't further spoil what happens a while after that, but that moment alone makes you pee on your pants.

I sold an Ayleid Statue to a merchant in the Imperial City. Out in the wilderness, several hours later, I fell asleep at my keyboard. The wilderness music was soothing, and I'd had a long day, and I just sort of drifted off. But you know how you get really vivid dreams if you crash in the afternoon? Just so here: I can't remember what I was dreaming now, but I know the images were powerful and sort of dangerous-feeling. And then, when I jerked awake, a HUGE face was staring at me from the screen... bright harsh daylight it was, but the face was shadowed, and big, rather ugly, and a totally fierce expression. Like he had stepped out of my dream with murder in his heart and was just glaring! Adrenaline surged and I was momentarily in absolute terror, and I fell back away from the computer screaming!

Well, it turned out to be Umbacano's Nord butler. He had wandered across the wilderness and opened dialogue up close, just to let me know to bring any new Ayleid Statues directly to Umbacano. But it was definitely my creepiest Oblivion moment.

When I run around exploring a dungeon, usually in sneak. But sometimes, a monster/NPC doesn't detect me for the entire time. On my way exiting the place, a mob will scare with living jesus out of me by popping out of a corner.
Happens to me in Fallout, too.

Sometimes waking up from a nap in daytime can be really scary beacuse you don′t know what has happened and you′re not supposed to sleep at that moment

i don't know if it was mod added, but i saw these carpets hanging from the roof that blocked a path and i thouht that maybe it's some hidden stuff here.
And when i jumped over a chest and pushed the carpents away a zombie was standing there and there was no battle music so i almost jumped off my chair

Some of the Shivering Isles root tunnel dungeon traps creaped me out when I initially started the expansion.

Oh god yes. I still get creeped out Hackdirt, especially when I hear the Brethren start sniffing! Thier flat, souless eyes freak me out, too. Even if I'm going thru the town and I've already done the quest, the anticipation of stuff jumping out at me give me the *shivers*.

I got creeped out when I first when into Rosenita Gallilanus's house. All those scamps that I assumed were enemies. I still remember it: I walk in, hear hissing, peep around the corner, "Holy craaaaaap...", backpedal to the door.

Vilverin is pretty creepy. It's still one of my favorite dungeons, because it has a deep story, and it's where I test drive a lot of new characters.

Hackdirt......Peryite-damned Lovecraft references.....

walking into that necromancer's house in skingrad. i took one step in, saw a dread zombie, peed my pants a little, then ran outside. funny part is that the zombie was dumb enough to go into the guard tower, i went in and watched the show.

what scares me on a day to day basis? swimming. im a bit claustrophobic, and when i cant see 4 feet infront of me i get a bit scared, doesnt help with the ammount of slaughterfish i find everywhere.

Hmm, definitely the Adoring Fan line, like I already said. Another one is Hackdirt, gives me the creeps. Finding a chapel in the wilderness filled with Necromancers and mutilated corpses. Going through a dungeon door at 2:00 am, and when it loads up the screen, a Gloom Wraith is screaming in my face. Sleeping in Hackdirt and waking up to one of the Brethren. Those are definitely some of the most creepiest and scariest moments in the game.
