Cricket Passed Away RIP

Post » Thu Mar 03, 2016 7:43 pm

So i got a Defend Warwick. When i got there I went outside the perimeter where the action was happening. I was passed by caravan guards, and I though that was funny. There was a bunch of charred ferals, and I took care of them. While looking around I found her body. What the hell. Those guards abandon her. I mean they were gone and no where to be found. The next day they were by her body just standing there with the pack cow. I though about wasting the guards but I'm not sure if the game will bring her back. She is mark as essential in the Wiki, but I'm not holding my breath.

Anyone else had something like this happened? one thing for sure, if they are still there the next time I pass by Warwick, I'm ending their contract. LoL

They are probably partly essential , just like generic settlers. They do not die from enemy fire, but can die from your friendly fire. I think if you accidently killed her, she won`t come back.

It often happens on Spectacle island when a vendor comes first and then after a time guards and the brahmin show up. And then again, the vendor swims away but they are standing and waiting. I think they wait until she swims to another bank.

That's weird.

I've seen her fighting with mobs and fell down to the ground, but she never died. Not sure if I shoot her on purpose though.

I used VATS and never targeted her but I did throw a grenade and just maybe it was too close. Damn. I'm still wasting those coward guards.

Maybe Cricket's guards went to find their clothes.

I'm still enjoying naked guards. I've had this "naked NPC" issue for Oblivion, Skyrim, and Fallout 4.

Don't remember it happening in Fallout 3 at all.

You can build them caravan posts and she , Lucas and that doctor will visit your settlement regulary and stay there for some time. But you need to go to Bunker Hill and to do some quests for local settlers to be able to build this posts.

No. She's a wandering merchant. She will stop by Bunker Hill sometime. So make sure you hit your way there to see her.

If you are on PC, you can resurrect her using the console.

Open console

click on her corpse (so you see her ID number)

type "resurrect" without the quotations

A little warning tho. If she is missing any limbs or the head, they might behave strangely (not that Cricket don't do that anyways, but still :D )

Here is a funny story...

I had all friendly Courser, BoS Paladin, Provisioners fighting.

Synth Courser vs BoS Paladin + Provisioner...

that Courser.. killed the provisioner and took his weapon in right front of me.

....So apparently something can happen to kill these guys.... something weird...

Not weird at all. "Essential" characters cannot be killed. "Quasi-Essential" characters cannot be killed by enemies. Meanin: your enemies, not their enemies.

So a Quasi-Essential character will not be able to be killed by enemies that appear red on your compass. They will be able to die if you or an ally hit them by mistake.

Since all of the engaged parties here were friendly towards you (green on the compass), the Quasi-Essential flag does not apply and they are allowed to happily murder each other in the face.

There is also a flag that NPCs can carry (similar to your followers in Skyrim) which sets them as "death-resistant". They'll fall to their knees rather than die, and anything attacking them will automatically find another target instead of finishing them off. However, if they're hit hard enough, caught in an AoE attack, or if they suffer a "finishing move", they're killed instantly without "going down" first.

I think the merchants in Fallout 4 actually come under the last category. I'm pretty sure I watched one of them get wasted during a settlement attack. Super-mutant sledge hammer to the skull.

That was my guess too. lol.

but I also wondered if the Courser was so determined to take his weapon that the program end up killing provisioner. lol

I remember one time I entered that one parking garage near Fallon's and it was taking me a while to get out until all of a sudden I heard gun fire and explosions outside. Like suicidal super mutant explosions. I got a small peak outside to see it was Cricket's caravan under attack. That's when I started to panic trying to find a way out because the next time I looked out only her guards were there. So the entire time I'm just thinking "OH GOD CRICKET NOOOOO" while I'm trying to find a way out of that damn house of fun maze. Eventually made it out, took out the Super Mutants as quickly as possible and it turned out Cricket was just hiding down the road.

A memorable moment in my time with FO4. Made that maze a lot more intense trying to get out in time to save Cricket who I thought died.

But yeah, sorry for your loss. Just reminded me if that moment.

I have never been able to do any Atom Cats missions- Rowdy? and the other female both died somehow in a battle up the road from their garage at that warehouse that always seems to spawn a fight.

I even took her body back to the garage and laid it out on the Atom Cat's pool table. The other two greasers just told me what a cool cat I look like in my power armor... they've never remarked on the body on the pool table.

I figured- "No way will she not respawn- she's the one that gives the Atom Cats missions."

I'm like a level 100-something now.

Her body is still on the pool table.

the term would be "protected".

protected actors are killable only by the player and npc's who currently are the players teammate.

else, they'll enter "bleedout" (the state where they sit on the ground looking groggy) and recover hp.

though, neither essential nor protected are necessarily permanent states, both can be applied and removed to any actor at runtime (!!)

also, that they don't _die_ doesn't mean they don't _lose_hp_ when hit, they'll do that just like anybody else.

which means:

if a protected actor gets fired at by enemies (such that can _not_ kill him), he _will_ lose hp (!!), just then won't die but enter bleedout instead.

when you (the player) now like explode a grenade near him or something while they are in bleedout, this can easily kill them, since they are _down_on_hp_!

Hold up - Caravan merchants are considered essential and cannot die to other NPCs?

this i can't tell, never tried to shoot one, nor had one die in my game(s).

(what i can tell though is that the random vendors with stands in the middle of nowhere die like flies in my game, never met any of them twice, if at all and not dead right away)

My Vendors tend to flee whenever there is a battle... notably Cricket at Quincy Ruin.. and Lucas at various settlement.

Only exception was Carla. She was beating the crap out of everyone with her bat during the Bunkerhill battle.
