So I was around town selling my junk in Windhelm and I dropped a couple of worthless things on the ground. A moment later, a guard comes up and tells me not to leave weapons around because someone could get hurt, then threatens me and asks if she had made herself clear. I said, "Yeah... But I don't care," and she threatened to take me to jail unless I paid her fine. I said, "I am not paying you a bribe!" Then she said she would have to charge me and walked away, while I received the message "10 Crime Gold Added" in the top left corner.

It's not a bounty for a crime; no one's attacking me or trying to arrest me. None of my gold was taken from my purse, but I don't think any was added either. So... What the heck just happened? :confused:

You just refused an order from a guard. I'm pretty sure that'll get you in trouble with police in real life too

It might be a non-active charge that the guards only pick up on if you talk to them. try chatting with one of the guards and see what happens

Nothing happens. I just get the same banter they always give.
