I have recently installed OOO version 1.30 and my adventures have lead me to the discover of a certain item named "Crimson Cloak."

This works fine and I am happy with it but whenever I loot either a container or a corpse it says "Crimson Cloak_." at the top left. Then the Cloak is unequipped. Why is this and what are the solutions?

Weird, but if you really are using OOO 1.3 it's a really old version and might be a bug. Update to http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1089759-relz-oscuros-oblivion-overhaul-133/.

OOO 1.30 is very badly out of date. I would highly recommend updating.

Possible reason for the message and problem is that the cloaks in OOO are sometimes scripted to work in particular ways, and that one seems to have something interfering with its script. The script was intended to make NPCs equip the items properly, I believe.

If there was such a script error, I'd imagine it's been worked out since I haven't heard of that error from anywhere else.

I was strongly considering updating but it's been made so difficult to find just a simple list of the patches and downloads from oldest to newest. I looked for a 1.31 (I'm guessing that's right as I'm at 1.30) and I can only find 1.33 and 1.34/1.35 BETA.

Or can I just download something newer than 1.31?

You should consider making a BAIN file or OMOD out of them, since another update is due this summer. It will make updating easier.
