If you're on Xbox, uninstall the Vile Lair DLC, start up your game without the Vile Lair present and load your save, then save again and quit. Then re-install the DLC and reload your save (you get unlimited downloads of your XBLM purchases, so don't worry). You will lose whatever furniture you purchased, but Crimson Eviscerator will level up.

Simply put, the game determines what version of the Crimson Eviscerator to give you by checking your level when the DLC is first loaded into the game. This means that a lot of people get stuck with the level 1 version because of the DLC initiating while they're still in the tutorial dungeon. If you're not on PC and don't have mods, this is the only solution. What you are doing is pushing the reset button on the DLC, making the quest re-initiate itself once you reach a higher level so you get a better version of the Eviscerator.

(In mod-speak, its called a clean save)

This is a known problem with the Crimson Evicerator. It's level is determined by why you first install the DLC, and not when you first enter the Vile Lair.

So if you installed the Vile Lair DLC when you first started the game, you are guaranteed to get a lousy version. Too bad, since at higher levels it's very powerful.

The only solution is what is mentioned above. Go outside the Vile Lair. Save. Uninstall the DLC. Start up and save again. Then reinstall. It should then be adjusted to your current level. Of course if you store stuff in the Lair when you uninstall that stuff will be lost.

Thanks for this! I dont use the Vile Lair for anything aside from getting this dagger and the garden(which i really dont need). So now ill have a dagger the entire game! although ill prolly move on eventually simply because i love finding new weapons.
