Oh, and yes, I'm continuing the characters from my other Talon company fan-fic, so Clive and everyone else is back on the ball. Here we go.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Severed cords
Clive lit his cigarette, looking in the distance at the wasteland underpass. The makeshift car was speeding ahead through the highway, as Enclave Vertibirds sped ahead of him.
" John, you better know how to drive"
John looked over to Clive while handling the dune bug
" No prob sir"
John swirled back into place as the car sped ahead into the onlooking hilltop of Talon Company headquarters, Ft.Constantine. The car sped through the wreckage on the streets, the sun's brightness showing crimson colors reflecting the sorrow of its in-content inhabitants.
John drove through the front gate, the guards opening it's rusty release just in time. Parking into the main lot, Clive and the group walked out of the car.
" John, Vernor, Dave, get to the main building and tell Jabsco that our job is done"
The group nodded in unison and left for a dilapidated office building, now reconstructed with the aid of the new American prospectors, the Enclave. Talon Company displayed its banner over the pre-war American flag, the blood of millions squandered behind the dark colors of its new inhabitants.
Clive walked over to the CO quarters building and entered. The dusty air particles blanketed his face softly, embedding onto the layer of grime on his already worn out face. He sighed and took a seat in his office desk, next to his radio.
" Journal Entries may ass, I need some me time"
He turned the switch for his terminal and watched as the green screen whirred to life, it's bulky circuits and parts resonating through the room. He opened up a few pages of his personal logs and started reading.
Entry log #1
The company has sent us to D.C, and now we have a new client, the Enclave. Seems we'll be busy for the rest of the month.
Entry log #2
The company has issued new orders, we're being provided air support from our mysterious client. These machines are very effective, as they were tested out on the muties yesterday, can't wait to see how good they'll work out. Woop's, don't want to spoil the suprise now, hehe.
Entry log #3
The Enclave did it. They just broke down the Brotherhood. It's our chance, we can relocate to Ft. Constantine. I finally can't wait to taste some clean water.
Entry log #4
D.C is being combed, and the base is in bad condition. Repairs are underway, so I'll be sent to the capital to sweep with the squad. Vernor is a bit anxious, should check up on his pills.
Entry log #5
The Enclave hasn't paid up, and my squad is going the long way back to D.C. Hell of a great time to do so.
Entry log #6
I just returned from D.C. [censored] this. I'm not cut out for muties, I'm going back to good old fashion settlement raiding.
Entry log #7
The Washington monument we captured a few months ago is being renovated by the Enclave. Cashed us out with pre-war money. Nice deal to me, if we rebuild, that is.
Entry log #8
Scout reports from the Georgetown area reported that the Enclave have rebuilt the Citadel, and they took over Independence, the Outcasts gave up and joined in. Pretty damn funny to see they fell in with the better deal. Finally, their skulls got comfy.
Entry log #9
Bannister just got renovated by the Enclave too. They built this big-ass cannon on one of the cliffs, pretty nice guns they got. Too bad they don't have a few bits of pre-war artillery like we do, or do they?
Entry log #10
Well, we got a contract to track down the LW. He is being cornered down in Evergreen mills, the raiders took him in for some caps and now they're hiding out. The Enclave doesn't want to go in so we have to do the dirty work, how fun.
Entry log #11
Bastard put up a fight. Too bad he didn't live. Took a bullet to the arm though, so that was a pain for me.
Entry log #12
Wow, the Enclave rebuilt most of their pre-war bases. Looks like some brightness in the wasteland. They just fixed up the purifier and now they're getting crowds of people. How nice. More recruits for us, as stated in their contract.
Entry log #13
Tenpenny tower fell in line for the Enclave. Seems that the old coot, Tenpenny, finally handed over his tower for a nice seat in the Enclave. Looks like they got vaccines for us so called "mutants"
Entry log #14
I got my vaccine, pretty quick. The Base looks much better than it did a year ago, I should check out the bathrooms and see how nice they are now.
Entry log #15
Wow, they got all their outposts up in condition, and now they fortified their airbase and destroyed the railway to it. Now we see planes flying over the H.Q, nice planes though. Wonder if we could get one of those.
Entry log #16
Rivet City has just docked off for port. Can't believe it! They actually built that tub back up and fixed it!!! Stupid wastelanders, looks like we're stuck with no luck for plunder.
Entry log #17
Megaton just got blown to bits. Jabsco ordered the artillery boy's to open fire and take that town out. The Sheriff sent us cash not to, but we don't take caps.
Entry log#18
Woooo! The view from that nuke was nice! Can't believe a nuclear bomb was so pretty when it blew up.
Entry log #19
The Enclave is building up more power, and now the only settlements out there are gone, Rivet city is off into the blue, Tenpenny is under Enclave banner, and now Megaton is rubble. Wonder if we can take out Arefu
Entry log #20
D.C just got a whole lot less prospecting. The Enclave found out where the muties are coming from and just set off another nuke. Nice. Now we won't get anymore contracts into the blue. Now more settlements are popping up, and raiders are doing the same. We need cash, and the Enclave is offering it if it means attacking HEAVILY defended raider towns.
Entry log #21
War is getting bad. The raiders at Evergreen popped up from no where and are now the new major hub of raider territory. Jabsco has built up a wall around the fort, so now we're wasting cash on laser turrets and walling. Great.
Entry log #22
Well, looks like D.C has a bright future, now whats left of the open wasteland desert is pretty bleak. Some towns here and there, a few contracts sprung up. Good cash to make, so I'm getting to it.
Clive looked at his hands, covered in blood.
" Wonder what next day is going to be like.......oh well"
He typed up a few words and turned off the terminal, settling into his bed.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Arefu
Evan king looked at the floor of his shack, screaming in terror as it rocked left and right.
" Damnit, I knew we never should have let them check up!"
He gritted his teeth as a large artillery shell blew apart the roof and landed on him.
Karen Schenzy ran outside of her shack, watching as the highway pass began to rumble.
" What's going on!"
The small town of Arefu, with its small population of 60 people, was in complete chaos, people screaming as shells blew apart their shacks or tents.
" WHATS GOING ON!!"
She continued running around until she came to the town entrance, watching as a large horde of blue was on the horizon. Dune bug's as Talon Company called them.
" Ah crap! Everyone take cover, here they come!!"
She ran the opposite direction as the chaos continued. She ran and ran, hearing the sounds of whirring gear mechanisms and tire against the pavement get closer. She kept on running.
" Please, no, just stop it!"
She stopped and stood on her knee's, looking at the raving mercenaries ride onwards.
" Stop it, please......"
She had tears run down her grizzly face, now aged with time. She simply stared as the face of a young 18 year old Talon merc passed her in the blink of an eye. His face filled with vigor and excitement. Her face filled with anguish.
Her head lopped off from the neck, falling to the floor.
