For those who don't know the recent gameinformer article (http://www.gameinformer.com/games/fallout_4/b/playstation4/archive/2015/06/17/19-new-details-fans-need-to-know-about-fallout-4.aspx ) mentioned a new Critical system where criticals are no longer a "random" thing that happens but rather now use a "build up" mechanic where you have a bar to fill (Fills faster with higher luck) and then when full you can use it for a guaranteed critical strike.
Making criticals non random means you know exactly when and where they happen. Taking away the "random" aspect of them makes them feel less special, it takes away the "wow" factor when you know 100% this hit will be critical because you built it up and you have ZERO % chance to ever land a critical until this bar fills up.
It's like the ole Star Wars rule, we all know that lightsabers can cut through about anything, so why when fighting doesn't it happen 100% off the time? Because then when it does happen it makes it more memorable and has a much larger impact on the audience. Would Darth Maul or Luke's story arcs have been nearly as memorable if every-single stormtrooper or grunt they fought had the same thing happen to them? Nope.
Am the I the only one who wishes criticals were still a random %?
