Crops Bugged in Sanctuary

Post » Thu Dec 10, 2015 9:40 pm

So recently I've started creating an Adhesive "farm". I've planted Mutfruit, Corn, and Tato along with having a Water Purifier. For some reason the crops are completely bugged out, they wont grow (produce their respective item) and I can't select them to store and replant them.

I've tried fast traveling multiple times, I've disabled mods and I've loaded old save files to try and remedy this problem but to no avail. If anyone can help I'd appreciate it, thanks.

Here are just some other things that I could think of:

  1. It's been in-game weeks since I've planted some of these crops so the probelm doesn't seem to be working itself out.
  2. Melons and Gourds work completely fine.
  3. This seems to only effect Sanctuary, I have 4 other settlements where the crops work just fine

Here are some "links" to screenshots of the plants that are effected imgur(dot)com/a/En2XW

Yeah same here, planted maybe 40 Mutfruit in Santuary and only two bear fruit. Can't even select the plants to assign them to settlers.

It's really weird, I was trying to assign a settler to some other Mutfruit in the garden, and instead going where I sent her she some how locked on to the bugged plants which were easily 100 feet away. I swear, Bethesda really dropped the ball on this one.

As soon as I come across another settlement with water, I'm giving up on Sanctuary and splitting my settlers and supplies up.

Plants sometimes bug out. It might (or not) be related to "moving" them around, so newer do it. If you want to reposition it, store in workshop, place anew.

That said I often can select them by finding "sweet" spot. It can literary be anywhere around. Also settlers will auto select plants if you assign them to just single one. They will auto assign even to ones you can't select.

In one case, plant fixed itself once it grew crops (I ques one model is replaced by another one and that resets selection box).

I have all the plants except tato growing in abundance in sanctuary. My tato plants I can't even select. Even if I gather more to plant the new ones are not select-able either. I just grow the tato plants in a different settlement where they do just fine.

each settler can only maintain up to 6 food. you don't have enough settlers tending your crops and once they die there's no way to get rid of them. (i.e. 6 mutfruit plants or 12 tato plants). make sure you have a person to assign before you plant them or they will go to waste.

This is correct. One you try to move a crop you've already placed it will almost certainly bug out. Save your game before planting any new crops, and make sure you can highlight them in workshop mode before saving again.

I have had a number of little bugs with plants as well...

An annoying one is some Tatos in one farm are damaged. I can select them and select "repair" which uses up a tato from the workshop however the plant is not repaired. As a damaged plant can't be moved, stored or removed I am kind of stuck in this case...

Where I have had other plant issue I have found that removing all the plants I could select and then leaving and coming back to the settlement later usually made those plants accessible again...

All my planets bugged out... couldn't select any of them and nothing would grow... The after a few days (real life) they were OK... I move my entire farm and even though the Tato plants are hard to select everything seems to be growing nicely...

Is there some special place(s) where you can put a Water Purifier?

I tried to put one down in Sanctuary yesterday and it would not let me plant it anywhere.

I have quite a few water pumps and some crops growing behind the yellow " headquarters " house but could not put a Water Purifier behind the house.

There is an exploit where you put a doormat in water then put the water purifier on that mat... you can select the mat and put the purifier where you want...

I think it has to do with the crew from Concord, they always [censored] up the crops. Don't let them near the crops, especially Mama Murphy.

Ive been able to store plants in the workshop that were unassigned.

I get the same problem with unselectable crops. Seems like it happens when you group too many plants too close together. I was able to select the frozen plants with much difficulty, basically changing my angle and pitch which I try to pick the plant at and eventually i get it to light up.

Now I've been planting crops in groups of 6 with enough spacing between individual plants each group, have had no problems after that.

How do you get something that was stored in the Workshop out of the Workshop?

When I look in the Workshop I don't see the items in there.

I quit storing anything there when it asks if I want to because I could never find them again. They just disappered.

Obviously I do something wrong.

There is a small number underneath the item... That tells you how many of the item you have stored...

Really? So if I wanted to manually plant and harvest crops that isn't possible?

Well, that's exactly what I was going to suggest. And I assume it's to do with Preston and the Quincy survivors.

Either way, you'll consider Sanctuary to be mostly dead weight once you get some proper Forward Operating Bases established. Preston and his band of useless NPCs need to be relegated to Outpost Zimonja or the Murkwater Construction Site imo. I'm sick of them getting in my way.

And Marcy Long needs to die. Painfully. She's worse than Nazeem from Whiterun.

You can't, the item gets stored as whatever you built, so in workshop mode it will have a number over the picture of the item if you have it stored.

So basically, you had a tato, you turned it into a tato plant, now it is a permanent tato plant in sanctuary. You can store the plant, but not actually withdraw it as a tato.

Planted crops within settlements need settlers around/assigned before they'll grow.
If you visit/clear an empty potential settlement site and there are a few crops already there, you can harvest them, but they won't grow again w/out settlers.

The "wild" stuff respawns.

I thought I had the same problem, but, I waited a couple of days and there was new product on them and then I could either store or harvest them.

I think it may have something to do with them being harvested.

BTW: I have found that the most effective way to have them produce is to assign settlers to them, but the most effective way to harvest is to harvest them myself.

Seems like if you harvest everything the things go dormant or something for a while. You cannot interact with them, then after a while they just regrow.

Is there any use for the wild corn, wild mutfruit, etc.? I haven't been able to tell if that stuff can be used to make adhesive or any of the cooked dishes or drugs.
