I'm def hoping for throwing weapons to come back

make my alchemy more useful :P, make a few cheap paralysis poisons and add them to some cheap darts or throwing stars, whip one of those at the enemy while charging to attack kinda thing

Sure, crossbows are cool.
Spears are also useful.
I would like a stuffed snow ermine weapon that has a paralyze on contact bonus on it. So you can beat your enemy repeatedly but not kill him, and bring up your hand to hand combat skills at the same time.

The Bethesda Blog updated the banner from New Vegas to what appears to be a Nord with a -you guessed it- crossbow.

Crossbows should be super powerful like negate any armor.... but to reload you have to stand in place for quite a long time between shots. They should require very high strength to use effectively. That would make it good for weakening/eliminating a "tank" type opponent from a pack of enemies.....just like they were made to do. Against opponents in lighter armor they would be less effective as they do not gain any bonus from the armor penetration and so bows would be better against them.

Imagine watching enemies fly backward like taking a shot from the FoNV AMR.

well not tooo long a time

I just went out and was trying to get my crossbow sighted in and it's bloody cold out and it only took me maybe 5 seconds to put it down, [censored] it and pick it back up (and I'm brand new with the thing)

oh um apparently the correct term for getting a crossbow ready to fire is censored >_< now that just makes me look dirty >_>

More weapons, more options, more replayability.

But Nunchucks are a bit much and really don't fit into Skyrim.

Yeah, I was going a little too far with the nunchucks. I don't want to remove it now, though, seeing as it's got like 40 votes.

I think that's for one of their other games, sorry to say. Yeah, for "Hunted: Demon's Forge." Ah well. Still nice to think they're trying to tell us something :P

Even so, I think they're trying to imply that there will be crossbows in the game. I don't know. I hope so!

Crossbows would be cool, I would definitely like them to add those again. But spears, those have to come back. How would hunters take down the huge beasts of Skyrim without a spear?

Voted other in the last section because I had to. None of those weapons really appeal to me, especially for a Skyrim setting.

What do you mean the bow for people who can't aim? It'd be just like aiming a regular bow. The major differences are that it's more powerfull, and it looks cooler.

I personally dont want ninja style weapons, but throwing knives would be fine and darts, also big fan of pole arms like halberds and spears, would also like to see slingers added to the game, as history has slingers among all early armies and it would be cool to see my character winding up for a toss at an ogre or goblin.

An automated grappling hook. It's the same mechanism of a cross bow, and a perfect item for stealth and thief characters.

I'm not a lore expert, so forgive any of that...

I voted yes for every option due to the fact that variety is the spice of life (even though I couldn't throw those damned star for caca :shakehead:

I really hope there is a crossbow. I could imagine something like that being "Nordic technology". Plus I can't think of anything more epic than fighting a dragon with a crossbow.

EDIT: And also it should be a rare item that's difficult to unlock. Make it a reward for completing a guild or something.

My only fear with crossbows is that ranged combat will be even more geared towards stealth. I understand that sounds strange because crossbows are not usually used for stealth, but it's a more high damage low speed of a bow. In real life using a crossbow would be a good idea because you'd take down an enemy in one shot anyways, so the reload speed is excusable. But in the elder scrolls it's probably going to take at least 3 shots to finish off many enemies.

Of course, more variety is nice, but I quess I'm undecided on if I want a crossbow. Spears would be nice though.
