I support the idea of weapon keys. If you have a one handed sword and no shield, it becomes a 2 hander. If you hit the throwing key and you're dual wielding, you throw the off hand weapon, if you don't have one, you throw a dagger or something. Also, give us the ability to throw soul gems and potions as rudimentary grenades, that would be interesting and give alchemy some viable offensive power, so a mage wouldn't have to rely on a melee skill. Also, an assassin could use a paralyze grenade to make a quick escape, or line up a cross bow shot

If the Nords of Skyrim are anything like the Vikings of old then they have to be able to throw hand axes and javelins. I think that crossbows are cool too. :toughninja:

ninja with a beard!

Do you know how badass those words sound together?

I hope crossbows have a decent aim view. Maybe an iron sight of some kind.

Or will people get mad that it sounds to FPS?

What do you mean the bow for people who can't aim? It'd be just like aiming a regular bow. The major differences are that it's more powerfull, and it looks cooler.

no, its a lot easier to aim, as you just have to aim and pull the trigger. with bows there are factors such as how much you are pulling the string, is the tension causing the bow to vibrate and all that stuff.

I'd say that is border-line ok. It's the actual gunpowder mechanics that gets me personally riled up about the thing.

Does anyone know if crossbows have been announced? I haven't been on the forums for a while.

A flail would be a fun return and nunchucks would be [censored] amazing for those who prefer to play hand to hand. (If you would put it in that category)
I want to play with throwing knives/stars again. They should also be a hell of a lot stronger than they were in Morrowind.

I voted no on crossbows because it was already explained that Skyrim is low tech and things like crossbows don't exist there and magic is a very rare occurrence. I also voted no on the spears because they need to be reworked and Bethesda is possibly giving us other polearms.

i would like to see spears return but if they dont the pole arms they are introducing will do. i also want crossbows mainly because it seems a little better for an assassin to have a crossbow rather then lugging around a longbow. but if they got shortbows and no cross bows then i will use a shortbow

Throwing axes would be awesome. Also as a mini game in a mead hall.

Ugh, I want crossbows, don't see how they can't be implemented, guess balance has something to do with it...

Well, just like spears, I can live without... But, wtf BGS...

Why do you have dual daggers as a weapon they should add? They already have that.

OT: Cross bows would be good, very good.

a throwing axe mini game would be damn fun! :celebration: but not in a mead hall in some logging camp it will fit in just a little better but they are nords so it could fit in either way :P

crossbows are slower, but easier to use. so using a crossbow at a lower level wouldent mean so much dammage is lost, whilst using at a higher level means more accuracy and faster loading

crossbows dont need to be drawn when you want to shoot them. so jumping around corners is bettter with them. enemies suprising you are worse of, as you dont need to draw, just aim and fire like a rifle from another fps.

crossbows look cool

crossbows DO fit the lore. and DO fit the skyrim setting (i think a crossbow would be easier to use in a blizzard than a bow)

My only fear with crossbows is that ranged combat will be even more geared towards stealth. I understand that sounds strange because crossbows are not usually used for stealth, but it's a more high damage low speed of a bow. In real life using a crossbow would be a good idea because you'd take down an enemy in one shot anyways, so the reload speed is excusable. But in the elder scrolls it's probably going to take at least 3 shots to finish off many enemies.

Of course, more variety is nice, but I quess I'm undecided on if I want a crossbow. Spears would be nice though.

Crossbows are used by special forces when they go on stealth missions. They're just as quiet as bows.

I really don't care if crossbows are in. I probably wouldn't use them that much if they're in unless they outweigh the bow in all way, shape, or form. I just like the feel of bows more than crossbows, not sure why though

For what it's worth, I'd rather have Bows split into the Long Bow and Short Bow and maybe Recurves. Cross Bows don't really seem necessary to me.

No to crossbows.

Here's an odd thought:

Why do I have to explain myself if I don't want crossbows? Shouldn't you have to explain yourself if you want them in?
