From the replies in this thread it sounds like it has already been answered. If it's true, then I find it unfortunate. Makes more sense to have them in the game than not, and I'd personally prefer to see them.
It makes more sense to have alot of things in the game than not (such as morrowind or oblivion style armor and clothes, spears, crossbows, horse combat, everything else that the majority of forum members have asked for ect.) But bethesda lives to step all over other people's hopes and dreams for the stuff they want in the game :flamethrower: lol jk. Honestly I don't know what's going through Todd's mind and the minds of the other dev's, I can only assume that in their persuit of a more modern simplified TES game they've either decided that the stuff forum members like is too complicated for new players to figure out (what a load of crap that would be), that it isn't important, or that we'll be happy with the simplified end result no matter what. I personally won't be happy with some of the things in vanilla Skyrim, hence why I bought a new computer and am now getting it on PC instead of my Xbox. Mods will solve my issues even if the people stuck with unmoddable console versions don't have the ability to do that :sadvaultboy: Bethesda really needs to get on that whole console modding thing. Or just give the people what they want in the first place (within reason).
