"Though there have been many reports throughout the Eras of children from these unions, as well as stories of unions with daedra, there have been no well documented offspring."

Half-Daedra? That's new. Wouldn't have thought that was possible. Any other mentions of 'em?

No. The book was suggestion they were probebly made up and I reckon by people with too much imagination and not enough taste. Think something along the lines of people claiming to have been adducted and impregnated by aliens.

I think saying that Orcs and Men/Mer "usually don't" interbreed due to the culture is a better way of putting it.......Because clearly, they can with success....

Inheritance of racial characteristics in TES is the equivalent of real-world "maternal dominant", so you would get an ordinary Redguard, not necessarily a pale one.

I think that of course Khajiit and Orcs can cross breed with Men and Mer although I don't think that Argonians can, they just seem to different.

Mmm - it might be seen that the writer is basing the spin on the article around debunking claims of unions. While noting that there have been no claims of certain Orc unions becuase they are being presented as even lower than the beast races. So the writer is getting off on his / his society's prejudices.

Actually, you should read that qoute some more.

Aah you did.

There is no spin. There are no reports of unions between orcs and man or mer because of said prejudices of society against these unions. So nobody does it and when they do they don't talk about it.

Academia is rife with conflict - and always highly politicised as one lot try to climb the coattails of the next or snuggle up to the powers that be for research grant funding and other forms of patronage = there is always spin when bio-science includes gossip - or dubunking of what is claimed to be gossip. Even if the basic premise is correct.

Your point being? Society was actually prejudiced against Orcs.

If you want to follow that then 'they' are more against orc than against 'beast races' - and possibly so much that a writer might not want to admit that inter-racial progeny (spin = miscegenation) is indeed possible.

See the champion of the arena = triple cross. That suggests that current magica has made such crossbreeding possible, if so the writer of that paper was inept or a liar.

Since that is in-game it has to be Lore - so does new Lore outweigh old Lore?

You're aware that notes on Racial Phylogeny and Biology was written before Oblivion and that at that time Orcs were only slowly being accepted into polite society? After all it wasn't until Gortwog got his hands on the Numidium in Daggerfall that they went from monsters that were killed on sight to a playable race.

In other words, there is no cover-up on the side of the author. Society itself was prejudiced against these unions.
