I really do appreciate the new 1.6 patch, especially for including a feature I was looking forward to since Oblivion - the mounted combat. Thanks Bethesda!
However, in mounted combat mode my crosshair disappears completely which makes hitting anything with a bow and arrows nigh impossible...
Does other people have this issue as well or any idea / advice on how to fix it?
It's a bug. In some savegames i played the crosshair showed up, then it vanished sometimes, and in other savegames the crosshair didn't show up alltogether.
Does it mean that it might re-appear eventually while playing a given character form a given save or that I should load a different save and hope it will be there?
I use the "Skyrim Compass Tuner" - just to switch off enemy markers and compass markers for yet-undiscovered locations - do you think that this one might caused the crosshair disappearance? I hope not, because I would regret having to use those two "cheaty" features again.

Thanks for you kind help anyway!
I think all HUD mods need updating mate. I had to stop using 1080 HUD
I used that and had to completely remove it (delete the interface files it created too, not just set it to default) to get my HUD while mounted back. Hope it gets updated as I really like that mod too.
Hmm I thought it was an intentional change... funnily enough after the first arrow or two I can hit anything with the bow whilst mounted, even without the crosshair.
I had made a new thread about this issue in the beta forum about ten minutes before they closed it...
While mods may exacerbate this problem they are not the sole cause. It happens to me from time to time and have never had any HUD altering mods installed. The last time it happened I noticed something. The crosshair doesn't actually disappear, it gets stuck right where the rider's butt meets the saddle. See if you can confirm or debunk this next time it happens to you. Meanwhile, sheathing then readying the weapon brings the crosshair back for me.
