Crow's Combat Armor Becomes "Fully Repaired" After I

Post » Mon Nov 03, 2014 5:11 pm

I have almost gotten to the end of Stealing Independence and there seems to be something weird going on with Crow (the Trader). If I purchase a suit of Combat Armor off him (to repair my Ranger Armor) that is at, say, 10%, it will be 100% after I purchase it and it's in my inventory. Useful if I want normal Combat Armor, but useless since I use the Ranger Armor and I need to repair it. Is there any way to "fix" this glitch, or am I pooched? I guess I could always just console it in, but that sort of breaks the immersiveness.

I seem to recall this happening when I played Fallout 3 on my old computer, but I can't remember if there was a way to fix it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, that's a bug in both Fallout 3 and New Vegas, and I don't believe there's any way to fix it. What's happening is that there's another piece of armor of the same type in his inventory which for some reason you can't see. And when you go to buy the one set that's listed, you'll get the other one instead. Just consider yourself fortunate at having hoodwinked Crow. And if you decide to play New Vegas, expect to see the same thing happening from time to time. In New Vegas I even get that same sort of thing happening sometimes when I loot enemies. I'll pick up several of a certain helmet, for instance, yet only one will show up in my inventory. But if I drop it on the ground, I'll see the one helmet divide into the number of the separate helmets I've looted. After picking them all up again, everything works the way it's supposed to. It's weird, but at least when dealing with the merchants it always works in my favour.

Thanks for letting me know that it wasn't just me, Nicho. Since there is an "invisible" Combat Armor there, if I purchased every visible Combat Armor he has, exited the conversation, dropped all the armor on the ground, and then re-entered the conversation, would the "invisible" one then become visible to purchase? (I have over 50000 caps, so purchasing the four sets he has in stock is no problem). Also, is this going to be a permanent glitch from now on, or will it "resolve" itself when his inventory refreshes? One last question. Is it just that specific armor that is affected, or will all his armor be affected, and if so, are all the Traders (even ones such as Scavengers, ones in Rivet City, etc.) going to be affected by this bug. If so, it's going to be a pain in the keister to get my unique items fixed.

Thanks again for any help!:)
