Cruel cruel way to tease those who want guns.

But they do not belong in this game.

In your opinion.

Bows and crossbows, are not guns. Guns shoot projectiles through a metal tube, and use gunpowder.

Blow-guns then. :P Best of both worlds. Gun-lovers get their tube that shoots projectiles, and I get a lack of gunpowder. Not that I dislike guns or anything (guns are awesome); I just dislike them in The Elder Scrolls. Besides, you can kill people silently with bows, crossbows, or blow-guns. Add in poison-tipped darts and you have lots of fun.

that would be funny, but as long as you cant use it other than right before it blows up.
guns would kill the game, end of story.

Did people make threads in the Fallout forums asking for magic to be in FO3 or FONV?

Wow, it's like half the people here didn't even read the post; they just saw the word "gun", and let loose. Overzealous much?

OT: I'd do the quest, and then lmao. I like it.

Imagine you are a few hours into Skyrim, when you happen upon a lonely old inventor. He has been working on something TRULY AMAZING, and he needs your help to finish it. He sends you on several fetch quests, at much hardship and cost to you. Finally, he completes his work, a powerful weapon designed to launch projectiles from an iron tube by way of explosive material. He promises it's the next big thing in weapons technology.

This inventor asks you to test it for him. You are given the weapon, and taken to a makeshift firing range behind his workshop. You are instructed to aim down the sites, then pull the lever.

KABOOM!!

The weapon explodes in your hands, damaging you greatly, and killing the over-excited inventor next to you. You now carry a scrap of hot metal in your hands, and the possibilities of such a weapon have died with the inventor you helped.

You loot his workshop for a pittance and move on, never to see another gun, ever.

I quite like your idea, very good job! :celebration:

And its kind of odd how people jump to conclusions without reading even the opening post.... Makes you wonder.

I actually would LIKE gunpowder. I don't want guns, but I think it would be cool to have some sort of blasting agent. You could fire explosive arrows, make bombs, set explosive traps. I think it would be a pretty cool alternative to magic.

It would be awesome to be able to make explosives using your achemy skill.

Yeah! And you could even learn how to make it through a quest involving ancient Dwemer alchemical recipes.

Sure, but I fail to see how detonating a bomb in your hand would hurt the person next to you more than you.

Because he's a low level and you're a high level?

Why isn't this guy in the developing team?

Man, they should hire you right now. This very example of yours should be in the game somehow. Very creative and non-aggressive way to refute any guns (flinlocks or whatever they are too...). once and for all (except in mods, which is fine by me).

A few productive ideas from this thread I like:

Throw a potion for area effect,
Blow guns (poison tip with a paralyze effect maybe? or garlic for vampires...)

I like this quest idea too, and I like the idea of perhaps cross bows with different reload animations (pull string versus crank etc) and one hand magic staves as a means of facilitating gun mods, which are completely acceptable under the "if you don't like it, don't download it" clause of game moddery.

When the gun blows up, can it melt and shatter to the players face with bits of shrapnel sticking out with melted metal making the player have a sad droopy look on their face made of iron permanently stuck there for the rest of the game? And when this happens can an achievement pop up on the screen saying "You have unlocked the - No, Elderscrolls wont have Guns! Achievement". And when you try to make a new character because you dont want a permanently sad face made of metal for the rest of the game, the only option for a head to pick is a big yellow sad face? :(

yeah that would be cool!

That's what happens when you try to use your own technology instead of the superior Dwemer one.

ah, no gunz, hope they add Crossbows because the character I have in mind won't do range-attack spells or bows.

well werent there some type of iron sight for crossbows that would at least make it interesting to those who want gun like attributes...idk guns are set for the fallout universe where they are acceptable based on the time period
