How long after the armor did you put those things in, though? Perhaps you just didn't notice the armor disappeared until now?

The game is programmed to clear out and refill any chests that are flagged to respawn if you have been away from the area for three game days or more.

If you did leave the armor in the chest past the respawn timeframe, then it has been erased from the game. Only way to get it back is, as stated, reload a previous save.

Next time, just put the armor on the stand. It looks nice, and you can also get the armor re-scaled for your level when you use it. ;)

If you are playing on PC you could always use the console to get the items back. You can use these codes on this site to get the items back. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Knights_of_the_Nine_New_Items#Boots_of_the_Crusader

I think you meant your infamy is too high?

IS the chest full of many items ?--- sometimes not all of the items will show - use take all and see if they show up --- If they don't then or the chest only has a few items then it was probably respawned which means they no longer exist in the game world - you'll need to use the console or load an earlier save to get them back.

Have you tried using TAKE ALL ? --- If too many items are stored in a chest the game will not list the fuill contents even though they are still in there but using take all will add them into your inventory correctly.
