Cryek - Patch Hasn't Fixed The Multiplayer Lag Issues

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 1:57 pm

Yeah its garbage at the moment. No idea if its because i play with the whole planet or is it poorly designed but I can get a host with my 25mbps upload and still am the only person in lobby with full 4 bars rest of em between 1 and 3

definitely agree, hit detection is really bad in this game. it makes MP almost unplayable.

You think they will put in a way to select the area it searches for games like Blops? In Blops I have the options set to search by Locale and have much better games. I think something like that would really help this game.

I havent had this issue at all...
However, i do know that more than 30% of the console players play with strict NAT settings, as i did for 7 months... (had my isp help me with it recently)
Might be your issue right there.

This game is amazing but having a few games too laggy to play is a real buzz kill. I hope it gets fixed :O

It will most likely be fixed but I have a feeling that it will still be stupid and terribly laggy as it will still give host to horrid connections.

I personally have yet to play a multiplayer match with more than one person having 4 bars and i myself never over 2. it's dreadful. takes forever to join games sometimes to never start the game. sometimes gun wont fire and cant move. Pitiful for a public release seems like the beta net code worked tons better than this crap.

I have noticed that there is noticeable lag. Game itself is running fine but there is some serious problems with hit detection not registering correctly and is very noticeable in scoring the top players with really high scores always have the better connection probably why shots are hitting there mark, have put a whole clip in unarmored player kept moving like nothing happened, issue really needs to be addressed.

Dude, you were shooting a hologram. They keep running until they get stubbed up, and then they look like a glitchy player.

Yeah but then you have the dilemma of the same host player having a latency advantage in every match. Like in COD whenever someone with an insane k/d ratio was in the lobby everyone already knew this person or one of his clan buddies who lives near him are going to be the host.

Your gripe should be with the host migration feature not working correctly. If the game was in fact laggy and unplayable it should have migrated hosts.

Edit: Treyarch and Infinity Ward were ranking/black listing hosts behind the scenes dynamically. Eg: If someone was constantly crashing games when they were hosting or always getting migrated - their host ranking would drop. Maybe something similar exists for this game.

I couldn't careless if he is good on host because as long as my game is smooth it's ok.

why is it that every game I join the host is on 4 bar connection while everyone else is on 1 bar. I really wish they had put dedicated servers on this game because it just ruins multiplayer with all the lag.
So is it possible to put dedicated servers in this game? :(

I have never seen lag affect a game as badly as this. People getting kills with ONE bullet (not an exaggeration, the killcam shows you this) while i empty clips into them to no effect, whiel armoured. Or people able to score kills while shooting three feet wide, or able to melee despite chewing lead. What the hell is going on here? One look at the scoreboard and about 2 people have green connections and everyone else is at best half that. Something is seriously awry with this.

I've been noticing it quite a bit today. It would be awesome if you could search games locally or if they did indeed have dedicated servers. Is it just a rumor that they're working on servers for consoles? You've got my hopes up now lol. I know its only 6v6 or whatever but dedicated servers would be awesome, I love how you can move around in this game and having an equal connection would just make it so much more fun and fair. Hopefully since EA have dedicated servers for other games they can get them on this!

EA have made millions, I'm sure they can afford to give us dedicated servers if they wished. I'm pretty sure I read that they have a deal with Microsoft to allow all their games dedicated servers back when I played Bad Company 2 a lot. P2P is just an unfair system for multiplayer games. Good for you enjoying being the host, but I know I'd prefer it a lot more if everyone had a balanced connection. Then I'd know how good I actually was instead of knowing I'm doing good because I have a better connection than everyone else.

Hey guys, loving the hell out of Crysis 2 MP but I'm running into some problems.

About half my matches there's been some terrible lag going on, I'm use to latency issues having played a lot of other FPS online but it's never been this bad before. Things keep happening like I headshot someone with my sniper rifle and then 5 seconds later I get the kill confirmation, or I put 3 shots back to back into their head while they're standing still and get nothing... Or I somehow get beat down by a guy that's in front of me and facing the complete opposite direction.

Like I said the MP is really fun when the lag's not terrible, but has anyone else noticed these issues too? Are they lumping people from different countries into the same playlist or what?

I've noticed the same thing. Whenever this game doesn't have lag, it is my favorite multiplayer game I have. When there is lag.......I try to not remember what I did with the last game that had lag all that time. Scissors+CoD 4=regret. And my internet is fast. 20mbs comcast plan and I get 4-5 mbs download speeds on wifi. My xbox is on ethernet.

You could have a 100,000mb connection and still suffer in online gaming. It's more down to ping. i.e. how far behind the host you are.

Yeah, a huge factor is just general distance from the host. The last time I had problems this bad was when I tried to play Crossfire with my cousin in China. :P

Depending on when I play, I usually get yellowy-green (3/5 or something?). If I start to play too late and head towards USA time I end up with (2/5) and start getting frustrated so leave. However, for the most part my gaming experience has been good. It's only the odd person in the match that I have to avoid because he can kill me without me ever taking damage... once you get over it though the game can still be enjoyable in my experience.

There will be people out there though that must find this game unplayable. I feel sorry for them.
