Cryek - Patch Hasn't Fixed The Multiplayer Lag Issues

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 4:24 am

Well if Crytek release a patch tomorrow that fixes the issues then we will all be happy... at least happier than before... I wuld love to play on Shipyard but with no patch then no DLC...

Sorry bud,

Cry-Adam has already been on record saying that we won't have a patch released in time for the 17th.

These issues have been around for 2 months and still not fixed, hence why I don't really think we are going to get a patch that fixes these multiple issues.

I'm afraid that after the DLC money has come in (people are crazy if they do, but thats another matter) Crytek will shut up shop and carry on not talking to us (us usual) and we will be left piss*ng in the wind.

they said before the 17th :P plus he smiled in the post!
theres always hope..

Nothing changed for me.
We need a "big" patch that fixes:

-The Grain Bug
-The MP Framerate Slowdowns
-The Netcode/Lag/Host Selection-Migration/Matchmaking Maps Rotation (we need RANDOM selection)

That's it.

Not much changed. I can say this, I am not sure if there is any Lag Compensation in this game. The lobbies are still one to two bars, while the host four bars. If this person knows they are the host, they dashboard if they are losing causing a lost in connection. I am wireless, and it picks me as a host most times. If a person is a bad host in the past, it should ban them from hosting. In other online games, I am never picked. Will the laggy killcam be fixed with these adjustments?

I will have to recant my statement from earlier. The MP is running a slightly smoother. In the lobbies, there were 2-3 bars, but the host carried a four bar. Why can't we all share a similar four bar in this game? I do not know. Unfortunately, When I throw my grenade, it lags across the sky, and when I am killed by a grenade, the killcam has it lagging all over the place. If Crytek smooths this out, it will almost be silky smooth. The Kilcam still have a laggy affect when dying, but the lag in the killcam have slowed a little. If Crytek make one more adjustment, I think we can get to a good compromise on the server. I am not sure if it is Killcam issues are server issues that make the killcam go crazy.

In some games, I was able to get away from a gun fight I was losing to recharge, so I can go back to kill the guy. Before, I was getting killed in 2 - 3 shots. It was easier to kill people with cars. I believe with these changes, gamers on Youtube would do more montages to help sell more copies if there are more adjustments on the server.

i dont know if crytek geezus is a dev or mod but he was on a few of my matches last night. didnt get a chance to talk, but if it is someone from crytek, its nice to see if maybe theyre monitoring the game. but one game there were the host with 4 green bars and everyone else either had 1 red or yellow bar. :( of course there was the "i unloaded a whole clip in somebody" moment pretty much the entire time i played online.

Hi guys,

Recently we had an issue regarding a "Version Mismatch" error that was occuring randomly for some players. As per the discussion thread, the cause of this issue has been resolved and further to this, we've also made several adjustments to the network system which we believe will result in a smoother online experience for all.

We hope to hear some feedback regarding your online experience now. Please ensure you've got the latest patch (1.1.1.8003) :D

Thanks!

Hi Cry-Adam, here is my feedback,

I played last night for the first time for a while and the game is still lagging. After a few games I ended up turning Crysis 2 off. We are still waiting for the Network Coding to be patched and I won't be buying the DLC until it's improved.

I turned the music off. Can′t have the police bang on my door every time I′m in the lobby or the frontend. All those explosion were nothing compared to the sudden extreme loudness of the music.

I totally agree with you guys.

Well i for one wont be buyig the DLC until a statement that issues have been fixed is posted.

I am in contact with Crytek UK via email trying to sort the lag issues out, but they say that the servers had an update to fix them. Well i am still being matchhed with players from Japan, Brazil and Australia and i'm in the UK.

It's when these players join your game when everything slows down and lags. We definatley need regional matchmaking.

Anyway here is Crytek UK's response to my lag queries.

Firstly, thanks for getting in touch and letting us know about the issues you have been facing.

I have been through the list of problems you have mentioned and it appears almost all of them stem from your main issue of lag. Lag is indeed something that we have been working around the clock to sort out. In fact, last Friday we actually deployed a data patch via RSS that should help improve connectivity and lag for our players. This is of course something that we are constantly monitoring to ensure all our players get the best experience possible.

In addition to this I was hoping you could provide some more details regarding your setup.

What sort of connection do you have? Wired or wireless?

What router are you currently using?

Do you experience lag on other games? Do other FPS games run smoothly?

If you could send over the details requested we'll look further into the problems. However, I am confident your experience should improve over the coming week.

I am aware that our community team monitor the forums frequently, however, due to the sheer volume of posts and messages, it can take a bit of time for those messages to find their way to the respective devs. I appreciate that this can be frustrating for a lot of people but I assure you we are constantly working to address as many concerns as possible.

Once again thanks for your email and I sincerely apologise for any inconveniences.

Cheers,

Associate Producer, Crytek UK

Crytek,

Let's go to one of the final steps, lets clear these little issues up (Grain, Lag, Network Coding etc) and make this the game it should be.

Please, if you can't do anything just patch the Network Coding so that we can enjoy your product to the full.

Well the lag is due to the Network Coding so lets hope that they release a patch attending that problem, then maybe the Grain problem? Maybe they don't think that fixing the Net Code will do much or something?

Can anybody working in Crytek U.K. give us a time frame as to when to expect a patch concerning the issues discussed here please?

Hi Dan,

I think fixing the Net Code would do a heck of a lot. It would get scores and scores of us off this forum (including myself) if they could fix the Network Coding, as for the majority of us it's the number 1 problem by a mile.

It would fix bugs as well as a lot of bugs are created by delays and missing packages right?
Maybe their plan is to release the patch then relaunch this website to wipe their slate clean?
People will start to buy this game as most people who have sold/ returned this game are likely to return to this game if the two big problems are fixed, Net Code first the Grain Bug or release them at once...
The DLC looks wonderful and the reviews are pro, but a lot of us are waiting for the patch to be released

Heck we might be able to play a game or two once the patch is out...

I'd love Crytek to fix these thing, one at a time if they have to.

I don't care as long as they get fixed.

But if they don't fix the shambolic Network Coding it's a criminal waste of potential in this game.

Snarf,

I totally agree. Cry-Adam said they are tired of repeating themselves, but at least take advantage of your sticky system. Insert progress and what they are doing. Damn! Create a blog on what they are doing to build confidence in their game.

Day number 68 in the Crytek Big Brother house.

Nothing seems to be happening.

Hey Crytek - We'd like an update on your attempts at sorting the Lag caused by your inferior Network Coding.

Don't all reply at once.
