Cryek - Patch Hasn't Fixed The Multiplayer Lag Issues

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 4:21 pm

There might be some sort of filter but a filter can only do so much, at the end of the day the game is still going to want to put you in a lobby with 9/10 players than to put you in one on your own. If that server is an American Host then it's an american host. It's no worse then what happens in Black Ops. There's hardly any serious latency between the UK and East Coast that I notice. I find the game playable at mid-ping.

Connecting to Japan mind... that's another ball game.

Yeah Asian countries are going to be problematic, but I don't think the Xbox is that popular there either lol.

As far as Black Ops goes you can set it to search only for hosts in your locale, and I've noticed much better performance in Black Ops than I did in Modern Warfare 2. Then again Black Ops also has a much larger player base to draw from than Crysis 2, almost everyone I know has Black Ops and only a handful went and got Crysis 2.

check your connection, if its 2 or 1 leave the lobby. i find 3 is the only decent level to play at and to have minimal lag.

If i left the lobby each time i saw a dodgy connection i'd have no game to play.

THis is beyond criticisms of people and their own connections. There is something fundamentally wrong with the netcode or the matchmaking. It's beyond a bloody joke.

True. But my ping with my sister in croatia(I'm in virginia) was only 30ms. All of my friends were around 150-200ms. Same test, same time of day. SOOOO is there any solution? I'm thinking of a system were the game picks a good host. The last game I played when I was host in Crysis 2, I sat back and didn't get any kills. I messaged everyone of the players asking how the connection was and if there was any bs. 10 of the 11(I was the twelfth) said awesome. The one guy who didn't like it went 2-15 and was about 9 years old and he complained.

That's true, the host's connection also plays a large factor in everyone else's latency.

I'm just hoping for a fix to this, I'll still play the game but when every other match puts you at a severe disadvantage its kind of annoying. :(

Well put it this way I've never been into a game yet where anyone but the Host has 4 bars.

I find that about 4/5 kills have some B.S. to them, weather from their end or mine. I keep wanting to enjoy the experience but I keep getting angry. I have fun when I improve myself and win. It's hard to improve when 4/5 times what happened when you or they died is more or less a mystery. If you doubt this, watch killcams for an entire night. It doesn't cost you any time. You will notice 2 things. 1: their screen almost never matches what happened on your screen. 2: How hard it was to kill you and which bullets actually hit you are extremely random.

I'd like to add that I feel there may be a hit detection issue as well that compounds the problem. Lately I have been seeing killcams and final killcams that clearly show incoming bullet trails intersecting with the player and still not hitting them. Specifically with the blue line things turned on. You can see bullets going right through their head and still no damage! If I understand it correctly that means that it wasn't a lag issue at all, or the bullets trails would be missing to the side.

I'm not sure how accurate the killcams are... I sometimes pop armor with full health and die in two shots; the killcam shows them clearly shooting at my feet and getting two hits in. Other times without armor it takes them 4-5 hits with the same weapon and all of the shots are dead center on my upper body.

I'm not sure what's going on with the game but I'm going to chalk it up to a latency issue. :(

I don't understand how a killcam can't be accurate from that player's perspective.

If it's not latency then the game's broken.

Any chance a patch will be available soon to address these issues. I'm aware that it's probably just latency, but no other mp game gives me this much of a hard time. VERY frustrating to say the least. The game is great, mp COULD be great, but emptying my clip into enemies over and over only to have them turn and one shot me is getting a bit old.

I hear ya man, some games( after I realize my bullets are completely incapable of killing enemies) I will just cloak up and visor tag enemies to make sure I at least get some tag assist XP. Otherwise Im goin 4-4-12, and those aren't fun games :-/

yea its really annoying, best thing to do is check your ping before every game, if its not 3 bar green then leave, you will still have problems player against lower pings and even having them in the host server still creates lag.

You wouldn't get a game then though ;-)

I really like the game but like the majority here the latency is becoming a major factor. Dieing in 2 shots after unloading a whole clip and then watching your shots spray everywhere in the kill cam is frustrating to say the least.

Hopefully it will be sorted.

Also, dealing with these issues. I play COD, Madden, and BF2 and my connection is always among the best. However, on Crysis 2, I am always one little red dot. I check my ping regularly and am always extremely fast.... hopefully, there is a patch in the near future.

I've had Crysis since it came out, and have loved both the single player and multiplayer. However, the multiplayer is extremely bugged and is trying to ruin my love for the game. The main two glitches are freezing at the ending screen (requiring xbox restart), and the most annoying one which is lag during the game. This typically isn't even noticeable until I see the enemies killcam. If I didn't even see how I died, it typically shows me just dying immediately, but the killcam shows me running in place somewhere a few steps back from where I was when I died. The other is when I am firing actively at the enemy, but even if I felt like I was hitting them straight in the chest, it will show me shooting somewhere off while they kill me quickly.

I feel like it has gotten worse not better since the beginning, and I know I am not alone as the gamespot forums are full of similar tales. Anyone else having these problems?

I know exactly what you mean. I'm getting 1-2 bars when I'm in a game with an Australian host. I think it must be something to do with the netcode because in other games I get full green on Aussie host.

yes all of the lmg's are way to overpowered and the sniper's? (i dont no how many snipers) but anyway the snipers take 3 or 4 shots to kill somone when it should be like 1 or 2 what im trying to say here is that the sniper rifles are way underpowered.

I noticed that too with the sniper rifles as well. I was using an smg yesterday as I was playing crash site and thought it would be ideal for cqc but I got torn to pieces by assault rifles which I thought was stupid. I also saw on one of my kill cams a guy kill me with three shots with the hammers from well far away don't get me wrong fair play to the guy who pulled it off but I've been stood right next to someone and it took more than that.
