I think the Ce2 has proven to be the more versatile Engine so far.. not only but also because of the huge modabillity it offers. The Ce 3 still needs to prove that it can keep up with its predecessor for all practical purposes.

They could be implemented, with the engine source code. Implementing all of said features into CE2 would then make it CE3.

Its quite easy to see that CE3 is less capable than CE2 just looking at the shadows and the lighting techniques. CE3 is lacking in both and that is the engine itself. Crytek and its fanboys can argue all they want, but I would say its been proven to be a gutted version of CE2.
