Well, 2 year old leaked casting documents did reveal a cryogenic sleeping chamber...

So it's possible, assuming they didn't change the game after it was leaked.

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but in the demo footage when 'Howard" first talks to Codsworth after leaving the vault, he comments on you not eating right for 200 years....and then 'Howard' replies: "No. I couldn't have been out that long."

I don't know about anyone else, but that right there seems to me acknowledges that the PC 'wakes up' from something after 200 years.....what else could it be if not cryo? And possibly that the PC in some way may be familiar with the tech. He is a military veteran and all so who knows. That line just to me implies that he has some knowledge of how long he was supposed to be 'out' for. Maybe the events that transpire within the vault forces the PC to place himself (and possibly others) into this cryo. Maybe a rad leak in the vault, or life support fails, pressure leak etc.

So unless there is something in the fallout universe that can keep someone alive and retain 100% physical and metal capabilities......cryo seems like the only answer. Just ask the Samurai on Mothership Zeta :P

I don't think he would have necessarily been familiar with the tech, as this was probably something that was classified above top secret. And as for why they had to enter the pods in the first place, I have given an in-depth explanation http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1523172-is-vault-111-built-like-a-submarine of what I believe happened. If it was in fact due to imminent repressurization inside the vault, then the pods would have been the only way for the remaining survivors to avoid being crushed to death. Note that the submarine theory in the link I provided now also ties in very closely to http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1526246-the-glowing-sea thread.

Maybe instead of cyrogenics it is a stasis room like in Red Dwarf. "The stasis room creates a static field of time. See, just as X-rays can't pass through lead, time cannot penetrate a stasis field."... Holly after Dave Lister emerges from stasis - "They're all dead. Everybody's dead, Dave." :D

For what it's worth, I thought that http://tamrielvault.com/group/vault-111/forum/topics/news-game-informer-confirms-cryosleep-intro article would be quite fitting to put on here, due to the mention of cryogenics. It's pretty much confirmed anyway, but this helps to 'seal the deal' as it were.

I'm trying hard to overlook the whole '200 year' mention though, which I still believe is a little too vague to be considered proof.
