Crysis 2 6v6 MP - Official and very sad

Post » Fri Jun 03, 2011 2:00 am

Or you could think of it this way; less players per team means that it is less likely that there will be one of those 5 year old kids swearing through the mic at you. That could never be considered a negative.

Crysis has a player mute button... just FYI

In my opinion 6vs6 is too small and don′t belong to crysis anymore.
Crysis was known for a huge battle, with modern vehicles on huge maps....
take a look at mesa
but this was just the public server site of crysis
in the esl and other gameleagues it was like:
6 vs. 6
3 vs. 3
1 vs. 1
and with this number of players crysis was an good taktical shooter...( and an ultra-PC-win-game ^^)
so when i was allowed to play C2 at the gamescom it was like ok wow another game but great :P Of course crytek had to build an completly new game, look at crysis wars or crysis, they are dead!!!!!!
im playing know since the first day of crysis, and there are just an minimal number of players playing ACTIVE cw. the ESL part is dead only 65 only players, or sth like that....
There is one way to close this whole discussion:
GIVE THE PC COMMUNITY THE MP DEMO AS U DO IT WITH THE 360 AT THE MOMENT!!!
The true pc crysis lovers need stuff to get there hands on

10 vs 10 AT THE LEAST!

6 vs 6 is horrible. I understand that consoles (only Xbox actually) can't support 32 players, but at between 20 and 24 is just fine. I know Crytek listens to the community, he could not miss a post with 25 pages.

MAG can host 256, why can't Crysis 2 hold more then 6?

Actually, Xbox CAN support 32 players. Look at Bad Company 2. But come on, 12v12 at least.

BC2 is 24 players max.

On topic, this is quite disappointing. I read some earlier posts where people are saying there are good games which have small player count, but those are TPS, not FPS.

Only small player count game that comes to my mind is Halo 3 MLG (4v4) where it's extremely tactical. But the game mechanics of that game are completely different.

Crytek has their reasons.

I'm sure Infinity Ward had their reasons too.

But Crytek are good developers but Infinity Ward....well let's not get into that :L

if I remember correctly, private servers could alter the maximum number of players for one server.

someone stated it was technicly possible to set the max number of players to 2 million (lol) if the server could handle it.

unfortunately, if you went beyond 32 (like a few servers with 40 players did) it would lag amazingly bad

Actually we wrote a modified DLL to bypass Crytek's hardcoded player limit, so you can just stick it up to (theoretically) the maximum integer limit. That's what all the servers are running.

40-45 is generally the limit for servers though; after that it just becomes unplayable.

6v6 could be fun (I think Bioshock 2 MP is quite fun and it's 5v5), but 8v8 to 12v12 will be much better.

Crytek made the 12 player decision for MP based on extensive gameplay testing. When considering the level design and the type of gameplay aimed for, smaller, more tactical based gameplay faired much more enjoyable than a large scale war/spam. The level design and gameplay elements ensure there will always be action to be had in-game. Gamemodes like Crash Site are an action magnet and it can get pretty chaotic :)

Regarding Kill streaks and various other points: http://www.gamesas.com/forums/post88715.html#p88715

Cheers.
It's already been decided, just check this out.

This is another pathetic example of a wonderful pc title that would be killed by the restrictions of the consoles.
A 6V6 MP is truly disappointing for the PC version.
There is only one answer for this “back to CSS and other REAL PC games”

Really why do people want 32 people on a map created for 6vs6.
I was in the 360 beta and the battle did actually flowed really nice.
32 player in those small intense map only means big complains by people who get constantly spawn raqed. But but spawned players can be like 5 sec immortal yeah dont think the pc gamers are looking for carebear ****.

And that is what irretates my at consoles dev they think we the players are freaking retards. No depth to be found in console games anymore. There was this awesome jpeg that showed the difference between level design of the high time of pc gaming the 90 vs the corridor experience we got in 2005 plus.

Heck even platformers are retard proof you almost can't **** up with uncharted 2 and enslaved i heard.

It would be funny to look at a server info and it's says "player count : 11/12

That defeats the purpose of dedicated servers. An i7 should be able to handle at least 64. Seriously we aren't going back in time. The future is here. Crytek: it's all there, but you aren't.

The reason that the teams are small is to provide a more tactical experience for the players. This way you can move in small teams which is just how special ops operate. I am not trying to be mean but you guys are being a little nit picky. Have faith in crytek. I am certain they will do a good job.

The whole tactical bit will be completely smashed if one team all have mics and one team doesnt.

One reason larger servers are better is because when I go 100000-0 one game I know that 63 other people are staring at my score And not just 11.
