Crysis 2 6v6 MP - Official and very sad

Post » Thu Jun 02, 2011 4:41 pm

You guys are missing the point. Crytek is not making a gameplay decision, they are making a money decision.

The ancient, decrepit, piece of crap hardware in the PS3 and Xbox 360 cannot handle over 12 players. You have to realise that they are trying to push a graphical game on a 7800gtx, a graphics card that COULD-NOT-PLAY the original Crysis on anything over Low+640x480.

If they make a two tier game, with 32 player PC and 12 player console, the console gamers will cry foul and sales will fall.

For this reason, PC gamers who have moved into the year 2010 and actually have decent graphics hardware will suffer.
*like

There's a game on PS3 called MAG and it supports up to 256 playes in one single map.

http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/action/mag/review.html?tag=tabs%3Breviews

Anyway 6vs6 svcks balls! - I think it's only for those 2 modes and there's still 6 modes left for them to show, still I ain't holding my breath.
If the reason for the limited multiplayer is not consoles, then that's awesome. That rules out consoles as a reason, and the only other reason for this I can think of is to make the gameplay better.

Well, if the reason is gameplay I think Crytek should create gameplay that appeals to the customers, as that will make them more money. And is gameplay really 'better' if the customers don't like it?

I really really really <500 really's later> hope they have vehicles in this game. I saw the Humvee's, heli's and APC's in those screenshots/pre-renders, and I really hope those are drivable (unlike COD, where when I saw a tank I thought: OMG, I love vehicular combat :D Aw gay, you can't drive any vehicle in the whole game).

Haven't seen a tank anywhere in Crysis 2. Saw that Alien Gunship (aka a Harrier from MW2 :\) Seeing as its gonna be 6v6, I doubt there will be vehicles in MP *cries*
Dunno about C2, but not in C1/CW. There is none to speak of
There's stats tracking in C2. In the trailers they mention ranks and stuff.
I think they mean ranks liek in Bad Company 2
Exactly. and that kind of ranking is based on points. For points to be tracked, they have to have stats tracking.

Sorry for the triple post, there isn't an edit post button :(

6on6 is wayy to little players.

I want atleast 8on8. I dont care if 6on6 is good in other games, a 6on6 in IS NOT CRYSIS. Myaswell call this game Call of Halo: Body Odor. Stay unique Crytek. 6on6 is NOT CRYSIS. This a big dealbreaker for many players.

LOL. I would like at the very least 12v12 (Though that may still be too few). 16v16 is great. 32v32 won't happen, but that would be awesome.

This all depends on how willing Crytek is to change a lot of stuff. I am assuming that there are CURRENTLY no vehicles in MP (Too much vehicle raqe if there are only 12 people). So... they would have to add vehicles.

They would have to make new maps (Or enlarge current ones, that's a good idea), to accommodate more players. Of course, they could do what Battlefield does and have 3 different versions of each map, one larger than the other. The game selects which one to play on based on the max players (16,32, etc.).

AND if this plan is to be successful, then they have to tell us they are changing, so we don't lose interest.

Crap, I hit submit on accident.

But, if they are willing to do that (and they really should be), then it's all good.

What a joke. Back in the hay day of Crysis, every server was 32 slots and full. This is looking more and more like a no buy.

By the way, where is Cry-Lee or whoever the hell manages the community?

They are losing the trust (And money) of quite a few customers here.

If I were them, I would get on here and say something reassuring. Every day I am considering more the idea of canceling my preorder.

I would like at LEAST 8v8, good solid number. And some maps outside of new york im sure the scenery would get old after a while. I'm sure we can think of a reason for the best soldiers on the planet to travel to ANY other location

Are there to be no other larger game types in Crysis 2.

Would be cool if Crytek developed Powerstuggle for Crysis 2 for the PC gamers. Having a larger player count. 4 maps is all it needs and they could even re-use a map or 2 from Crysis 1.

Why do this for PC gamers? Well it's the home of online gaming. It would also help PC sales. Lots of people own gaming PCs. Either this or it's left to the modding community.

It feels like the PC gamers are getting pulled back by the consoles on everything now. I know consoles is where you make your money, but the PC is where there's longevity. it's where the community forms and maintains itself.

We will have to see. Such small teams does remove from the experience a bit.

As "maximum_stealth" quite harshly pointed out, your stuck with it, live with it, deal with it... (in not too many words) PC or not were all obviously locked into the console restrictions because of the multi-platform compatibility.

6x6 small urban environments, as you say...sure good, so does that mean every 'custom' map from the MOD-community (if there is to be one) would have to create small 6x6 maps to accommodate restrictions? you couldn't for example make a map the size of Mesa for example with 12 players rattling around in side, that would be silly...

In my experience in running on-line servers particularly crysis-wars i noticed that usually the more players you have on the better the 'action' the pace is fast and theres plenty going on to amuse you or to kill you, ok in a smaller environment 6 on 6 could be fun also, but you restricting the game play enjoyment/possibilities from the get go...

I understand it's also confirmed that you won't be able to pilot anything in the air on multiplayer, understandable if your on a small map, but again it's a determent to those who don't want to be forced into this type of game-play scenario your setting up for us, we want freedom, ok so an open-environment of NYC was asking too much, but this isn't top of the pops with me to be honest, I'll be banging my head and blaming every console in the book for a long time because of this...

I'll enjoy the single player i bet just as much as anyone else and I'll try the MP side of things, some one some where will try to convince me it's cool & great etc and it's better for close tactical play and 'teamwork' etc... but I'll be in a box, a small box with a single word written on it : CONSOLE.

Brilliant, looking forward to that one then.

If they are gonna disappoint us this much, they should make the multiplayer cross-platform so we can be happy :D Then the console people will have something to complain about for once in their lives.

This game definitely needs usable VTOL's Helicopters, Humvees, and tanks, as well as high player numbers like 24/32 man maps to at least have a chance to improve upon Crysis Wars. Not to mention to be able to fully enjoy the new Nanosuit, we need LOTS of players all around us, to give us that feeling of overwhelming threat that helped make Wars so unique and exciting, needing to creep crawl and intelligently plan out how to use the suit effectively take out 2 or 3 guys and get out of there before a VTOL or Chopper spots you and takes you out.

If Crysis 2's multiplayer can't duplicate and improve upon Crysis Wars, then (IMO) this game is not worth my money, and I will just stick with the thrill of Crysis Wars.

Well this definetly seals the deal with me. I will not be buying Crysis 2.
#1 Company is unable to spend the time to work out Networking section of the engine. Decided to go with the 1992 Networking protocols for the old Warcraft game to save money.

#2 Company doesn't support the customers, nor do they truly stand by their product.

#3 Attempting to dump another pile of crap on our laps, and expect us to actually pay for it this time.

If Crysis 2 does not deliver for me (it doesnt look like it will), then i refuse to buy future Crytek products.

At this point, im only sticking with the purchase for the Singleplayer. The MP looks like utter ****.

Come on Crytek enough with the f**king secrecy and shed some light here, you guys are breaking my balls!

Otherwise don't bother creating C2 servers for the PC community cus there won't be anybody playing.

You are pissing off all the REAL PC gamers! (kiddies with their supa-dupa daddy's PC don't count)

Don't come complaining about PC sales being poor and then blame it all on piracy. I bet most of us won't pay 60 drls/euros for singleplayer alone.

A company like yours in 7 months can still turn this around!

That's why they need to make bigger maps. They can fix this in 7 months. But will they?

I Really hope Crytek sheds some light on this soon, Its hard for me to believe that they would ruin a game so easily.

im sure they will make bigger maps with vehicles and if they dont we will, one of the best things about Crysis 1 & 2 is/will be that we can mod and make our own maps and server

Where is Crytek? Why don't they reply? Don't they have a team of people who manages the forums/community?
