Crysis 2 6v6 MP - Official and very sad

This really pisses me off.

Nathan Camarillo:
"We're keeping it really tightly focused on 12-player multi-player. Thats 6 vs. 6..."

12 players? That is a bad joke for a PC game like this. Especially when Crytek has been goin on about 'pushing boundaries' and stuff like that. I used to play battlefield 2142, which was a game of around 2007. It supported 64 players in one match!

This isn't pushing boundaries of technology. It's setting stupid limitations. In any shooter I have played in the last few years, 12 players in a match would be a very boring camp-fest.

Also, this probably means no vehicles. Having vehicles on a small map with so few people is a bad idea. I personally don't want to pay 60 bucks for a game with half-assed MW2-style multiplayer (You know, with the "perks" and the kill streaks.

What does everyone else think of this?

A little note to Crytek:

You have lots of time before the release to rethink this. Use the time wisely, listen to your potential customers, and I will be more likely to buy your game.

I absolutely agree. This one part of the game is a serious deal breaker for me. Going from 16on16 to 6on6 is just rediculous. I dont care if there are graphical limitations causing the downgrade, physics limitations causing the downgrade, I WANT MORE PLAYERS. Atleast on the PC version. EVEN MW2 HAS 9ON9.

I seriously hope you reconsider this 6on6 bullcrap, Crytek. "tighter and more focused" my ass. Now just me and a couple buddies can and will fill up a whole damn server, which is no fun at all. I atleast want 8on8, AT THE LEAST.

This will be a very unique game in many ways. There will be no other like it for years to come. I would hate for its potential to be wasted because of a few stupid decisions.

If MW2 has 9v9, Crysis 2 can do better. Come on Crytek, I am SURE you can do better.

This is just my opinion but, if your a multi-player map creator, you might understand why 6v6 is ideal. If you really watch game dynamics on a given map and match size, you will notice that between 8 and 12 players is ideal. The pace of the action on a medium sized map is constant with ebbs and flows in perfect harmony. By keeping maps down to a medium size, this increases the chances of a successful spawn location which is huge in game flow. While the idea of 16v16 sounds great, it is not ideal for consistent solid game play... in my opinion.

you do realize the game was action-packed when full on the maps right? and that PC dedicated servers can manipulate the amount of people that can play in one game.

if I recall, it is technically possible to host a 2 million-player server for Crysis Wars, so why not Crysis 2?

I doubt it will stay 6v6 for the PC, Crytek stands to lose a lot of cash in the PC market if they do that. It's not economically feasible for them to limit PC multiplayer to 6v6 max, their sales would plummet. If it is not a mistake then they have just lost a sale, because if I'm buying Crysis 2 it's strictly for the multiplayer aspect, I could care less about the single player, and I will not waste cash for a game that is limited to 6v6 multiplayer.

More isn't always better.
Gears of war is one of Xbox's most successful franchises, and it only has 5v5 -Dispite that it could easily handle 8v8 or more.

More players usually mean less strategy - thus more "kiddish".

Smaller numbers usually require more strategy than
the common "Ruch, raqe, Reload" tactic seen in high - number games.

If you played GoW2 (5v5) you'd see that no one rushes into a team because that's just suicide, and you're not gonna get a kill.

^^^^^^ I love getting a small team of friends together and playing with some strategy! some of my best moments in gaming have been playing 3v3 halo, or 4v4 GoW....

btw I do also enjoy games with higher player counts, like Battlefield n COD

Well 6 on 6 would be ok if the maps were small, like in an apartment complex or something. But bigger maps definitely need more ...

Dear Crytek. I am a proud PC gamer and Crysis player. 6v6 is fine for consoles because they are used to it but please make the PC version at least 10v10 because that is what we are used to. The console gamers might cry but you'll show us PC gamers that you are still loyal to us. I have faith in you Crytek! :)

although Crysis 2 has some similarities to MW2, I like that Crytek UK are trying to set themselves apart from COD, unlike other devs that feel the need to be more and more like COD.

we don't need anymore COD games. We have been getting 1 per year since 2005, and starting in 2011 we will be getting multiple COD games per year.

The intention for this game is to make it fun and enjoyable, not annoying and uncomfortable. If 16 players ran around on rooftops in nano suits, doing parkour and shooting each other while in strength mode, would that be fun? Not in my opinion. 6 vs. 6 is actually a pretty high number, since Crysis 2 is focused around urban environments. If you were to be in the jungle, the maximum amount of players would've been raised. Many players doesn't equal great gameplay, and you've probably already seen that with Modern Warfare 2. So please, stop complaining about the low amount of players. The limit will NOT be raised.

Anyone up for 16v16 on aimmapv2 or poolday v2??
Really? Why do you even bother complaining about how many players there are? What would give a little teamwork in 12v12 and up would be a squad system, but whatever, it seems like you guys can't think of anything else than lots of players....

Also, would the 360 be capable of 9v9 crysis 2 without lag?

I completely feel the same way. It would feel completely unfair having so much players in a map.

There will always be a few of those dominant team members who do most of the work when there's nothing else left for the other team to do.

I feel this will give the teams more responsibility between each other. But then again, people always keep saying to me "The more, the merrier!".

So I'm unsure on what's right and wrong.
