Crysis 2 Advanced Graphics Options Application Version 1.6!

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 5:37 am

Alright, I did some more testing:

Regardless of the value of sys_spec_postprocessing, setting r_PostMSAA to 1 or 2 will enable rain. Setting r_PostMSAA to 0 disables rain.

It is pretty stupid they didn't give PC enthusiasts graphics options in a hardware benchmark-game such as this, I mean what the hell were they thinking with that one? No one likes simplistic graphics options on a PC. Thanks for this tool!

I think I know what causes the texture vibrating. The motion blur shutter speed this program set's is a large number integer, when it's .0002 by default (and the default is already pretty blurry). To fix this, I just changed the motion shutter to .00015, which actually decreased the blur from the vanilla game.

PC enthusiasts
Perfect word to illustrate the fail of the lack of options.

They used that word in the MANY video options for Warhead. xD

I took some screenshots to demonstrate what happens when you change the bloom / HDR options.

Image

This is what you get with default settings.

Image

If you change either setting to 0, the 'ambient light rips into your eyes with the fury of nuclear hellfire' effect is shut off.

For comedy value, try setting the brightness to 0.1 and the multiplier to 100.

I played with the settings but im getting strange results. Background buildings and smoke plumes are very blurry and flicker and jump around as I move. It goes away when I change in game settings to one of the defaults. Tried many different settings but it doesn't go away.

Thanks for the share of this great little App!

I'm using a 5970 and it all looks rather good, the AA helps to make all this look much better...
my autoexec.cfg is below...

Code:
sys_spec_shading=3
sys_spec_gameeffects=3
sys_spec_objectdetail=3
sys_spec_particles=3
sys_spec_physics=3
sys_spec_postprocessing=3
sys_spec_shadows=3
sys_spec_sound=3
sys_spec_texture=3
sys_spec_water=3
sys_MaxFPS=0
g_skipIntro=1
cl_fov=75
pl_movement.power_sprint_targetFov=75
i_mouse_accel=0
i_mouse_accel_max=100
i_mouse_smooth=1
r_motionblur=0
g_radialBlur=0
cl_zoomToggle=0
r_UseEdgeAA=2
r_TexMaxAnisotropy=16
r_PostMSAA=1
cl_crouchtoggle=0
r_ColorGrading=1
r_SSAO=1
r_VSync=1
r_MotionBlurShutterSpeed=1
e_shadows=1
g_enableInitialLoginScreen=0
r_HDRBloomMul=1
r_HDRBrightLevel=1
r_StereoSupportAMD=1
r_driver = dx11
r_ShadersDX11 = 1

To solve my flicker problem and use DX11 i used RadeonPro with the FEAR profile and V-Sync ON, you get much higher frames per second and it'll look great, i have tried various setups and this one works the best, make sure you keep v-sync on and use the autoexec data above...

What settings you guys use with HDR and Bloom? I just changed those settings to HDR 0.3 and Bloom 0.0? Are those good? I would also like to know what's the default settings for those two..

With HDR and Bloom, values other than 1 and 0 default to 1. So it's either on or off. At least that's my experience so far.

UPDATE ON PRODUCTION
All future updates and links will be posted at my blog.

It does sound like shameless self promotion, but I'm sick of updating like 5-6 places with info at once. Hope you all can understand.

r_StereoSupportAMD=1
r_driver = dx11
r_ShadersDX11 = 1
con_restricted = 0
sys_budget_videomem = 1000
r_displayinfo = 0

If you have a AMD 5xxx series its in your favor to paste that in your systems and autoexec cfg files.
There is no difference, whatsoever and the only tesselation options I've seen are only on the water

And if you want to unlock the framerate, put this command in you config: sys_MaxFPS=0. Worked for me. My framerate goes over 100fps while playing in certain areas. I don't know if it has been posted yet, but I thought I would.

It has already been said that Multiplayer may disable any and all modified configurations. This of course would be to prevent abuse of some so-called "cheat" settings. I think this is the same policy as is seen in the previous online Crysis games.

Try changing something obvious and see if it works.

It would however seem possible to change some global settings that could give one player an advantage over others. The most obvious is to simply change to "Low" performance settings and reduced display size. You would certainly get better performance at 800x600 than at 1920x1080 for example. How that would be reflected in multiplayer you would have to try for yourself.

@Wasdie: Don't wait too long to push out a finished application. The singleplayer part of this game (where your application is most useful) will be dead and abandoned sooner that you might think. And, in light of the fact that most of the config modifications cannot be used in multiplayer, your application may find itself on the dustheap of good intentions but provided much too late to be useful.

I think if you can add option to disable parralax mapping and specular, will help the performance,
Thanks Again,
Good Job!!

Will we see something to the effect of TripleC with this?
Cause I can't run Crysis 2..... And Wierdly enough, I can run Crysis and Warhead with Triple C...... And get decent enough gameplay.
I feel as if I've got 4 fps when playing C2.
It's Dead Space all over again. :(

In the next version, could you add this variable?

r_DrawNearFoV=

It affects the distance between gun and camera.

By the way, Version 1.6 is released.

Hopefully the DX11 patch comes tomorrow. If the rumors are true and it does, I'll be adding everything I can to this app to support DX11.
