Crysis 2 and 360/ps3/pc

Post » Sun Oct 31, 2010 10:06 am

I know very well that the pc can run things the best out of the the 3 platforms but i am still impressed at what Crytek has done with the console graphics. I really hope that there will be console players too because I want everyone to play this awsome game!

Im trying to decide between 360 and PC.

My pc could run it, but in order to have awesome graphics I would need to get a new graphics card.... Probably a GTX 560. Don't want to spend another 200 just to have awesome graphics.

Any comments would be appreciated.

@ArmageddonRising

Ah c`mon! You dont need to spend that much to make Crysis look better than the 360 Version.
Just buy a Gtx 460/470 that will be enough to make C2 look glorious!
Even a Gtx 260/275 will do a fine job i think.. way better than the old Xbox360 hardware for sure.

well, the gtx570. The gtx580 is far too expensive for what it is.

Overall both the hd6 and gtx5 series are very tightly matched overall. Which will hopefully lead to a lot of price competition :D (probably started by AMD, because the're chips are about a third of the price to make due to a more space efficient design).

Also, what's the the obssesion with 'zomg if pc no max not worth pwaying on it!' Seriously, anything around about medium on PC and you're laughing compared tot he console version. Never mind that pretty much any card going about £40 will run it on high (probably not very high though) at crappy console resolutions like 720p. £50-60 will net you a card (e.g. hd5670) that can morbidly thrash a console in crysis 2 without a shadow of a doubt.

If you have a PC, and you have about the same power, or more than, a hd4670, get it on PC. If you don't have that much power, spend the £40 on hd4670 :P

Frankly, it's the obsession with maxing which makes pc gaming seem expensive. You don't NEED very high at 1920x1200 for it to be better than the console version. What you (likely) NEED is medium (low textures, high shaders - maybe) at 1280x720 to beat it. Now, if the 'double performance at same quality' statement is true, that means that a hd4670 will probably get to high at 1680x1050 :)

I play Crysis at 15-25 frames at very high DX10 at 1680x1050 and that is enough for me, and Crysis 2 is supposed to run better so I will get for PC, and maybe also PS3 :)

Indeed! Still, umaza should be seeing much higher frames anyway in crysis 2 :)

I only get 30fps playing Crysis Wars on high with some AA enabled with a GeForce GTX 285, I am hoping on getting much higher frame rate due to my upgrades for the upcoming Crysis 2, around 45 - 60 fps because of the CryEngine 3 scaling.

Whatever you want to say about Crysis 2, say it. But that does not change how much of a beast the CryEngine 3 can really be in terms of scalability and optimizing every damn shader core. :)

Even if the frame rate and video quality are good on consoles, it's still going to be massively limited by the controller. In Crysis 1 you had to have keybindings for almost half your keyboard, and I have no idea how they're going to fit that onto a console controller. Maybe Crysis 2 could be the first console game to include keyboard + mouse support, that would be awesome.

I know this may seem crazy as hell but I'm probably going to get all 3 just to see the differences. I've always been a Crysis freak like most everyone who plays it. I really want to see the differences between the 3 platforms. I have friends on PC and PC always comes first with my gaming, then I have friends on Xbox and PS3 and I want to play with them so yeah $180 worth of Crysis :P

Of course Crysis Wars still has the master server online. ;)

Heck, if Far Cry is still up and running, then Crysis Wars is too. :P

Makes perfect sense, but would that, apply to Crysis 2 mp if separated?

Simple: take away a lot of actions. You could play crysis with a 360 controller but lost a fair few functions, functions i've not seen so far in crysis 2. So we'll probably just have a simplified game...again.

well if you still want good graphics its ps3. but im willing to make a bet that the majority of console players for crysis 2 will be 360, just because 360s are a lot more common these days. more people can mean better online experience, just something to keep in mind.

Between Xbox and PS3 I would buy the 360 version to play online, then I would buy PS3 to play the single player. Some people don't have that kind of money unfortunately but that's what I would do. But, I'm buying it on PC.
