Crysis 3 - Another step in wrong direction

Post » Tue Dec 04, 2012 4:13 am

Crysis - One of the best games ever. Have the developers forgotten EVERYTHING they did best, why Crysis was better than every other game?

No it's not just the graphics, and it's certainly NOT the aliens.

Crysis 2 - The first step closer to destroying the series. The best thing with the game was the nanosuit and graphics.

Crysis 3 - Back to the jungle. But have they forgotten why we liked the jungle in the first place?

Here are some word for you: Wide open areas, Physics, freedom.

They have ruined everything. The best game ever has turn into a failure.

Before you say anything, I want you too see this video from 3.30:

And then tell why on earth my money should go too Crysis 3, because Crysis 3 looks just like Crysis 2, a good game some say, but a failure too the original Crysis.

I can't see why people are being so negative towards the future of the series, let's just see how the game goes. I might not be happy in regards to where the series is going however all what i can do is send the team feedback and wait for their reply. Let's give the game some space, shall we? Still the game is yet to be released next year...

So once again, I am not responsible for what you choose to infer from a post. You should however, before responding like a child, consider if that which you inferred is actually there to be inferred.

Sorry for originally responding like a child.

about story: i dont like the change from island to new york in this way you play c2 as alcatraz, no chance to learn what happend to raptor team. i expectet that soemthing is pointing with prophet since he got crazy after he could survive the alien. but then he kill himself in c2???? lol.

gameplay: there are levels i like more in c1 and miss in c1wh, some levels i like more in c2 and so... in the end i like c2more

maps: yeah, island was open, gives you options but it was for me too much jungle. ok, true, what do i want expect from a island:D although that, it was very fun that i cant tell how many times i played sp in different hard-level, c2 more one-way but i liked the city-map. and if i see c3 trailer, it could be perfect. a mix of city and jungle.

name: well not so important but i would say they should call it c2 hunter:D

in the end i will buy the game, even i cant imagine i will love the hightech-bow.

I hope that the "open environments" in Crysis 3 will actually have more things to do, whereas in Crysis 1, while you did have all this freedom, most of the open areas are just empty

Crysis 1 felt like a new improved version of the Far cry gameplay for me. It was something that was very good..made into something nearly perfect. Crysis 2 cutted so many things that the Crysis and far cry gameplay was famous for..it felt like a whole other game. It true...it was less gameplay and more cinematic experience...but in my opinion... i wanna play a game..and dont wanna watch a movie...

Crysis 1 on consoles have the same "environment destructibility" that the original? after viewing the video of the first post i wanna play Crysis 1 again, on my country cost like 2200ms points but if it has the same features than the original i'll buy it.

I think its great that some people did enjoy C2, some aspects of C2 are great. Although I think alot of people that enjoyed C2 more than C1 were console gamers. Of course it won't be the case for everyone.

I also feel C1 required more skill to be good. Where rewards and upgrades were not how much time you spent playing overall, but how well you played when you did.
I do play well on both my reaction time speed and skill tend to shine through more when I can move freely on C1.

If Crytek do get the right mix of Crysis 1 & 2 the game could actually turn out pretty nice. For me 80% of C1, 20% of C2 would = a good mix for C3.

If you mean what we could do space wise... and yes I want that. Still the Nanosuit 2 is much better than the Nanosuit 1 in the story mode. Only sprint needs fixed. Everything else just made so much sense its stupid to go back.

Well I felt the original nanosuit had much more of an advantage over the nanosuit 2. The nanosuit 2 felt like a downgrade and you had to upgrade it with modules.

Did you follow the story any or has your rosy crysis colored glasses have you forget getting you had to reboot the suit from scratch(new user) and it was working on an anti Cehp weapon too?! It is MUCH more powerful and could do a whole lot more. I am sorry but if you can't see the upgrades I really wonder what wrong in your mind.

I agree crysis 1 singleplayer experience was top notch, but crysis 2 multiplayer was step in the right direction with a lack of ongoing support. I hope C3 will be a good mix of both ! :)

The Original Crysis in my opinion was definitely the best, like all games it had flaws however you could do pretty much what you wanted. C2 was reasonable i like the new nano suit however aswell as the new nano suit it needed the freedom of Crysis so i totally agree...

In my view Crytek should make C3 a game with the nano suit 2.0 (or maybe even a better one) but also remember the freedom of exploration is also a feature which should be considered because maybe there's another way of finishing the mission, for example Crysis (original) at the school level if you go a certain route you come across a terminal where you download data and discover before you get to the village that the hostage is in the school not the town hall. I like C2 but its too sort of 'This is what you HAVE TO do' not 'as long as you complete the mission do what you want'.

I understand the suit has 'upgrades' and these supposedley make it better than the nanosuit 1.

Trust me if i was in a Nanosuit 1.0 and you in the Nanosuit 2.0 you would not stand a chance.

I could run a thousand miles, you could run a few yards (thats circles around you). I would have much less recoil, aswell as extensive hipfire accuracy. I would have much more algility. I could use my hands. In armored mode I could move normal speed. Maximum nanosuit 1 ftw.

im still 6th in the world for crysis 2 after yonders of time not playing and after a complete stat reset here is what i think

Crysis 2 for me was a great game my clan enjoyed it the problem was the LACK of support for the MP that really killed it for just about everyone i know left the title on bad terms due to that Remember the 6 month Trophy That Still to this day Doesn't exist on 90% of peoples crysis 2 trophy sets But the game play in crysis 2 was not for everyone but for a certain amount it was the perfect game People could choose Strength or Stealth whatever their game style way they could adapt all the people crying and complaining saying they want Crysis 1 ....then go play crysis 1 FFS or Battlefield And crytek isn't listening to such a dramatic Game change so just forget it seriously the games already in Testing youtube videos would tell you this and common sense in seeing how far along the trailer is its imo already truly built and looks great i hope it plays like crysis 2 just smoother less clunky and FIX THE DAM BUGS THIS TIME AND FAST!!!! and you guys will have done a great job Make Sure your Multilayer Menu's work squadding up make that Easy 12 Man squads again would be great and Clear VOIP communication remember if your game has multilayer then focus on that First simple really alright can't wait to play this title with my clan and dominate the leader boards again Peace out

Really glad you enjoyed C2, and that your clan was able to dominate such hotly contested MP leaderboards, but:

Crysis Wars MP: dead after 2-3 years

C2 MP: Dead after 3 months

You can only put a portion of that difference down to bugs

So what you are saying is people that want C3 like Crysis 1 go play crysis 1?

Well to me it seems you want it to play like Crysis 2? So should you just go and play C2? No.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and people that want it like Crysis 1 should stay right here and express what they want out of Crysis 3. Aswell as people that prefer Crysis 2.

Ah just saw 6th in the world via console (PS3) that explains it.

I don't even need say anything. The STORY MODE Nanosuit 2.0 is much more powerful than the Original Nanosuit. Say what you want but its much easier and more durable to use and the cloak is much better. You keep using Mulitplayer to say the Naonsuit 2.0 is weaker when the Crysis 2 mulitplayer suit a nanosuit 1.5 mass production suit. Really This has been debated and proved already. The Nanosuit 2.0 feels slower(because of FOV) but its just as fast and much more useful.

I agree that the Nanosuit 2 has some useful functions "modules" but these could be incorporated into the nanosuit in a different way. I wouldn't say 2.0 is more durable unless you want to walk at 1mph in armor mode. You still can only sprint for short periods so the endurance is definitely lower. Not what you want when your suppose to be a 1 man army.
Its not that it feels slower and does not have anything to do with FOV. Maybe you play on a console?

Personally I don't like the 'modules.' It was cheesy in my opinion and the fact that you could only have a certain number activated was lame. It just seems like a silly console achievement based system and didn't get me excited at all. The nanosuit in Crysis 1 was way better I thought. You had distinct modes you started out with right in the beginning that could be utilized for different methods of attack for different situations and could get paired to do cool tricks (Power Jump, Speed Run, Cloak kill, Strength throw, Armor defense, Speed away etc). You had several options to do a wide number of combination attacks and these all had their own distinct vulnerabilities. They were balanced right and different enough that it was awesome play with.

Nanosuit 2 just seemed like you were an invincible tank and you were engouraged to simply cloak everywhere or activate armor everywhere without having to worry about dying. The level design and battles have a part to play in how non-useful I thought the suit was in C2, and by "non-useful" I partly mean it did not inspire creative playing, it inspired you to simply push and hide with cloak and armor, over and over and over until I didn't care about the suit or what it did, I got so used to using cloaking and armor that I didn't even notice I was doing it eventually which svcked and turned into brainless gameplay that you'd get in games like COD or Halo (not that those are not fun in their own way but this is Crysis we're talking about, this was the game that broke away from that which made it meaningful)...in Crysis 1 I had to think and plan and those plans weighed heavily on how I was going to use the suit for each attack which made me think creatively and strategically. Different situations called for different attacks as well. It also made the game more suspenseful becuase I was invested more in what I was doing.

Crysis 2 > Crysis 1

OMG, an opinion different then yours.

Maybe cause judgment based over a video game is subjective. :O

I'll apologize on Crytek's behalf on them changing the game and making a sequel... wait, it's a sequel. Sarcasm aside, it's a different game. Crysis 2 was a step forward, regardless. Stating the obvious, they aren't going to duplicate the first. That is stupid. Crysis 2 is an evolution. Crysis 3 is continuing that.

If you don't like C2 then play the first.

A step forward doesn't mean it's in the right direction. I will play the first again and most likely not the second...but I'm sure as hell gonna be on this forum for the next year talking about how the third should be more like the original and for good reason.

It's not change that's the issue either it's what the changes were...it's not "stupid" at all when the original provided a gaming experience that was so significant to PC gamers that they continue to come on this forum and fight to make the next game better in our opinion.

An evolution is needed to keep the game exciting but for goodness sakes man...we don't want C3 to keep going down the path we think is wrong. You may take comments comparing the first and second as just whining but I do it to communicate to Crytek what I want to see in the third becuase guess what, I'm not buying it unless they do go back to the games roots plain and simple. Plus I want to bounce my ideas off and talk about how it could change for the better in new ways.

Well, stating it was a step forwards is an idiom that means it was a positive one. A step backwards would be the latter. Semantics aside, I am claiming that I feel that changes that were made aren't understood in a common sense manner. Again, it's a sequel. They toy with new ideas and see the success or failure of those ideas. I can tell you that the more linear, non-sandbox approach to the games was something that had to happen to due the location of the sequel, NYC. A sandbox map in a city would be a lackluster grid that people would find redundant. But most of the discussion you hear are along the lines of this:

They have ruined everything. The best game ever has turn into a failure.

Unfortunately, that, to me, is whining and doesn't provide much to discuss. Again, I am not saying that critique of any sort is unnecessary; although, I am saying that much of the critique being said is.

Even if the first was a better game, that, in no way, does not mean that the successor was a bad one. That would be an outlandish claim to such a beautiful package that is Crysis 2, a hasty, polarized claim. The sky is not falling. The game is fun.

On a side note: I had an interesting discussion on how the spoiled gamer is ruining gaming. A discussion for another thread.

The thing that bothers me the most about Crysis 3 is it's setting.

I don't get it. They're returning to the jungle setting of the first game, but their not going back to the alien's island. Why? Why can't we return to Ling Shan and see what's happened to the place? Why can't we go back and fight the original alien spaceship? Why can't we combat the blue aliens (what happened to them anyway?). What's the point of continuing to mess around in New York!? I though the aliens were wiped out there! Already I am getting bad vibes from this game!

If I buy Crysis 3 I'm going to wait until it is on a very good sale. I still remember what happened the last time I preordered from these jokers. By preordering Crysis 2, I got a broken game with barely any relation to the first. Besides, I never did get the bonuses that I was supposed to get from limited edition anyway.
