Crysis 2 auto-update not working? [Manual Patch - EADM info]

Post » Tue Nov 09, 2010 11:46 pm

A number of people have reported issues with the Crysis 2 auto-updater for patch 1.1. Because of this, the Crysis 2 Patch 1.1 is now available via manual download and install. This also includes a fix to the auto-updating process meaning any future patches will download automatically.

You can download Patch 1.1 from here:

Crysis 2 Patch 1.1 [Manual Download]

Please inform us via this thread, if this patch worked for you, or if you had any problems.

If you did experience some problems then please assist us by answering as many of the questions below as you can. This will help us to identify the issue and resolve this matter as soon as possible;

1. Have you previously installed the Crysis 2 PC demo?
2. Have you uninstalled the demo before installing Crysis 2 retail?
3. Did you change the path for the default installation and if so, where to?
4. Which Operating System are you using? (Example: Win 7, 64-bit)
5. Where did you purchase the game from – EADM, Steam, Retail or another DD partner?
6. Can you provide the MD5 checksum for the Crysis2.exe in the game directory?
7. Which virus scanner software are you using?

You can post all of this information in this thread as it is being closely monitored by Crytek staff.

You can check what version you've got by right clicking on the Crysis2.exe -> Properties -> Details -> File Version

NB: If you have bought the game from Steam you do not need to manually patch; Steam guarantees that your version is up to date

NB: If you have bought the EADM version, please read the following post: http://www.gamesas.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=215323#p215323

Same as everyone else. Like I have time and bandwidth to waste for a patch that probably won't work on a fresh install. that is just funny.

I bought through Steam and the patch was not able to find the game in my computer. Help please? I can't even play the game without the game hanging before showing the menu.

Hey, thanks for the manual patch. I posted before about having problems with the auto update. Sadly, I decided to uninstall and redownload the game. Will check if the auto update works this time, otherwise, this manual install patch will come in handy. Will report back my progress.

As for others who are having problems with the patch not finding their game executable, maybe it has something to do with your windows locale setting and that small R in a circle on the Crysis 2 root folder name (Crysis(R) 2). Either play with changing the R or changing your locale to English US. It just makes sense and lots posted that this fixed their issue.

Hope it helps.

P.S. I know a lot are angry but please, have some tolerance :) regardless of the situation. Helps noone to rage about.

7. Symantec Endpoint Protection, but I also use Agnitum Outpost Firewall Pro which has powerful HIPS/OS firewall capabilities. I use the anti-spyware in Endpoint Protection and thus have disabled that capability in Outpost.

Whoever programmed this.. needs to be let go. How hard is it to add a option for browse to root folder, or have at least the two/three default locations checked first?

--now it can't find it-- :) its cool. Something as simple as this being screwed up....

lol If they would read the post people are making they would know what people are running. 9 out of 10 people put the OS, Ram, and the video cards in the post when they have a problem.

The beta worked fine...

IMO they should have people on the forums 24/7 for the first two weeks to get **** worked out. Talk with people and find out whats going on. Not wait a day to make a random post telling people this "might" fix it and if not bend over...

I got an email from steam asking about my computer to see what they could do to fix the problem so I sent them all my specs and the next email I get from them tells me they don't help with third party games... They cant tell you that in the first email?

Doesn't work for me, it can't find it.

But one thing I did notice was, looking in the "uninstall or change a program" menu from windows control panel, the game isn't even listed there. Now, my game is install with Steam, but the games are always uninstallable from there. I'll backup and reinstall....

Edit: Apparently since I bought my copy via Steam it did in fact update properly, so please disregard the information I had posted here previously.

While most of the things patch 1.1 was supposed to fix have indeed been fixed (from my perspective), a few of them didn't. For instance I still encounter some ranked servers that will not start, albeit far less than there was a few days ago. Also, occasionally some of my MP progression/stats still don't get saved, again this is better than it was at first launch. Both of these issues were said to have been resolved in patch 1.1 which is why initially I didn't think my game had patched properly. Other than that (and of course the many issues patch 1.1 didn't address) everything seems to be running fine. Still looking forward to patch 1.2 though! ;)

For those who can not install the patch 1.1
Do not worry, do not rush.
So even if the install does not solve anything and you can only play single palyer...

Just to be sure, is the version shown in the top left of the multiplayer screen? Mine currently says 1.1, but I can't say I ever noticed it auto-updating at any point. I just want to make sure I'm looking at the correct information.

Ok, Uninstalling and redownloading didn't work for me. So downloaded this manual patch and installed without issues. Found the executable straight away (since I already have English US locale setup for my windows which matches my installation of Crysis 2).

Thanks for the patch Crytek. Looking for more improvements :)

The auto update patch worked for me with no problems when I first installed C2. However though, I have EADM to run always as Admin...
