Crysis 2 “Better On PC” Due To Console Versions

Post » Sun Jan 02, 2011 8:38 pm

To throw a spanner in the works, i thought i'd share an article that is from Edge Magazine (issue 224) where Cevat discusses how consoles have helped the development of Crysis 2 on PC.

“PC gamers will get a better game out of that, it isn’t just take, it’s also give,” says Yerli.

Please post on topic if you want to participate in the thread. There are plenty of demo-related threads for you to post in.

A slight sign of hope for Pc gamers, but that won't change the Pc / Ps3 demo fact that we must face. But thanks anyway Cry-Adam :)

Yeah. Let's see some proof of how they've improved =) You know - something now, rather than 2 months from now, when the game comes out ;)

That's great. But, Cevat Yerli HIMSELF actually said that features were taken off the engine due to consoles.

The game is going down the hole. How much did Microsoft pay you to destroy Crysis? HOW MUCH?

I fail to understand why an exclusive demo would put off PC users who get a large number of exclusive features not seen on consoles. Back on topic though...

Cheers for the link Cry-Tom. I guessed that since the experience of building an expansive title on PC with Crysis and Warhead, which could, in turn, only improve with the less steep requirements that the PS3 and Xbox 360 contain. I suppose it would mean, if it plays on the Xbox smoothly, it will play even better on the PC. Thanks

Excuse me. But where the HELL is Crytek? Is Cry-Adam/Shinanigans the only Crytek rep posting here? They must be pretty damn confident about the game if they are ignoring the fact that half the active official community is going nuts.

EDIT: And in reply to the above post, it isn't just the demo. It's the fact that PS3 and PC have been so obviously ignored this entire time.

The fact that they've made optimization the priority is great. It means we won't need to worry about 2007 again when most people could barely run the game.

Also, it's Cry-Adam, not Cry-Tom, lol. :P

Well of course its going to be better on PC than on consoles the fact that we have no information on it at all as far as system specs, and how much the game has been consolized makes us feel like we're being pushed to the side. You can make silly topics like this and BAN people all you want but it doesn't make it right.

I believe the rest of them are taking cover under a desk due to all the rage.

Obviously not if Cevat commented on the PC version.

The Xbox does get a great deal of demos, but the PS3 has a larger amount of exclusives these days. Killzone 3, which is getting a demo and being released next month, there'll be an exclusive Brink beta, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood beta, the Dead Space 2 beta, Resistance 3, Uncharted 3, etc.

Anyway, I won't derail the thread any further.

“Crysis 2 doesn’t suffer from that, in my opinion,” he says. “It’s superior [to Crysis] from every angle.”.

owwww... big words indeed

I will not believe this until I see indisputable proof.

Companies like Treyarch said largely the same thing about Black Ops. Crytek has not been able to test across a wide variation of systems, has not had a single bug testing or shred of video shown to us. This statement has no founding if Crytek has not been able to test across the several hundred PC variations we see today. And I am certain that they probably haven't even tested across a dozen different variations.

Adam, thanks for trying to calm the community but they are stuck on the whole demo thing.

Also Adam that doesnt really make up on the fact of the PS3. I dont really care about the version myself but you guys are now discussing information about the PC.

So I feel that the PS3 version is really getting the short end of the wishbone out of the three.

ESPECIALLY since this helps the PC game version while the Xbox has the demo.

Hopefully crytek will stop getting bribed by microsoft and release a cross platform demo :) I assume crysis 2 will be better than crysis 1 overall, i mean it has been 3 years. But with all this faff about the 360 i just can't justify a pre-order without seeing the goods :D

At least i've got gorgeous screenshots and crysis 1 as a baseline though, ps3 users have nothing.

Hopefully this changes soon or they might have to reflect on there actions when developing Crysis 3.

They'll just blame the ps3 platform :D

Like how they blamed piracy for crysis 1 'only' getting 1.5m sales on PC (compared to uncharted, which only got 1m or so) when in fact it was due to the association with vista and the high system demands. Steam probably helped get them more sales though in time :)

lol that would be great. But remember, alot of us already know the secret about Sandbox 3.

You make it for a platform, its done on all three.

Unless thats a lie?

Which puzzles me, surely they have the demo on PC and ps3 already! It makes no sense for them to go 360 exclusive! (they'd earn more money from the positive publicity on the PC and ps3)

Like I said, EA is a devil when it comes to ****. It said Battlefield 3 was PC exclusive, then recently said its now multiplatform.

EA has a demo for Bulletstorm for PS3 and Xbox but no PC even tho Bulletstorm is coming for all three.

EA is a monster in disguise.

Indeed, although i think every publisher wants multi platform games so i don't care so much about bf3 as long as it's not cut down crap (minimum 64 players on PC or it's right out from the start, i can play bc2 right now for 32 players), it's just very annoying how they handle demos and then complain that people pirate their game first to see what it's like.

They've not even got an excuse, PC revenue tends to sit between ps3 and xbox for EA. Activision obviously owes roughly 60% of their income to the PC platform.

Well Activision sits on Blizzard who makes bank. COD and Blizzards IP's alone make more then EA in a year.

Indeed, EA's total sales revenue is around £1.5-2bn or so (varies wildly year to year though). The PC platform alone for Activision makes £1.5bn. Which is why it annoys me when activison say 'they don't want to take risks', they've got the most spare cash floating around of any company!
