I just discovered yesterday that Origin was having a "6 for 6" deal, and Crysis 1 was one of them. I immediately bought it, downloaded and installed it, as well as applied the latest patch. As soon as I launch it up, a black screen comes up, but nothing happens. The screen stays black, and on top of that, my system pretty much freezes. I have to spam Alt F4, Alt Tab, and Task Manager over and over for about an entire minute straight before the game finally closes. This is the only game that does this to me. I've looked at other forums, however, none seem to help, as they're either for Windows 8, or for people having disc errors and so forth.

My Crysis 1 game was a direct download that automatically opens up in full screen, even when I right click the start up icon, click"properties", then click for it to start minimized. I remember reading somewhere to try using task manager and set it between 32Bit, or 64Bit, but I can't even do that because I can't even get to my task manager with the game running, since it always goes to full screen and doesn't let me leave the black screen without it completely shutting down.

I also noticed a "compatible" type section, which was currently set to Windows XP (Set 3), or (Set 2). One of those. I tried switching it to Windows Vista (Set 3) to see if anything would happen, but nothing did. There are a lot of compatibility options, so maybe I just have to pick the right one? I don't know.

8-Core AMD FX-8350
AMD Radeon HD 7970
2TB HDD
Windows 7 Premium

I play everything at maximum settings with great frames, including Crysis 2 and 3. However, Crysis 1 just doesn't seem to load at all. All I get is a black screen that lags my computer. All suggestions would be appreciated. I was really looking forward to playing this game and fully going through the Crysis campaigns (chronologically), since I never had.
