Crysis 2 burn my video card

Post » Thu Dec 30, 2010 3:14 pm

84°C on extremal settings on GTX 465. Still alive and running.
Last game that gives my card 84°C was metro 2033 on maximum settings.

Your card would have died to any demanding application. It was just old and on it's way out.

LOL at blaming a game for killing your card. This must be a troll though, so I just got caught :P

So... if your brain is full with drugs, there is no way to blame the drugs load but your old brain?

Well, since a video card is SUPPOSED to play games, and drugs are clearly not a brain's normal state, your attempt at a witty retort has apparently just backfired.

Brain have equivalent natural drugs but nobody stay that way too long... my point is this: no any demanding app force my card to die, just this game...

Its Antec NSK 6500
http://www.antec.com/specs/NSK6500_spe.html

You should post you CPU and whether you overclock anything in your system. Plus you should say exactly what the PSU is, I would assume that if it came with your case it would be a fairly low quality generic device. http://educations.newegg.com/tool/psucalc/index.html Look here for a simple watts calculator.

The recommended minimum for a GTX460 is a 450W supply with 26A. If you're looking to upgrade I would recommend a good quality 500W PSU as well. Something like a Corsair or a Coolermaster.

In the summertime I always use an auxiliary fan which blows cold air against my case. It really works. I already have 5 fans in my case, but still it does its job really well. Also, make sure your room temperature isn't too high either.

In that case I would recommend you upgrade your PSU. Your system would be very similar to mine with a GTX460 and I am running a Coolermaster Silent Pro 500W - this cost me £65.

Another good option is a Corsair VX550 http://www.corsair.com/power-supplies/non-modular-psus/enthusiast-series-1/vx550w.html probably about the same price £60ish.

If this game has ruined your card you obviously, have poor airflow for your Card/System as a whole, overclocked it too much and your ambient temperature is too high.
