I am with a lot of other PC gamers in that I REALLY expected Crysis 2 to raise the bar graphically, and we were led to believe that it would do so until very shortly before launch.
Many textures are half the resolution of of the previous game... what's even worse is that most of those same textures look to be re-used from the first game!
Crysis 2
does make several improvements over the first, I really really like the streamlined suit controls, and the added production value in the single player campaign.. add to that, multiplayer is miles above the first game.
While I do enjoy the game, and am happy with several aspects, the graphics have really dissappointed me. Crysis 2 was supposed to be a benchmark, and was supposed to be a totally different beast on PC than the consoles, and that just is not the case as it currently sits.
I would like to see the graphics and physics raised to at least be on par with the first Crysis and Warhead. I very much miss being able to cut trees down if they were in my way, or to blow up little shanty huts and watch the pieces go flying in a realistic fashion
I still have Crysis installed so that I can go and have fun screwing around when the linearity of Crysis 2 starts to bug me
