Crysis 2 Campaign: about the Ceph and their plan

There seems to be some confusion as to how the RedCeph connect to the BlueCeph and how Crysis 1 and Crysis 2 fit together.

C1= crysis 1
C2 = crysis 2
N1= nanosuit 1
N2 = nanosuit 2.

The State of the Ceph in C2 during the campaign.

there seems to be some confusion.

-the Ceph in the beginning have just launched their main assault. the city was already in lockdown due to the Ceph plague. hence the copious amounts of roadblocks and big walls.

-the Ceph are very much winning during the campaign. from destroying the Submarine that brought the marines to rescue Gould to kicking the crap out of everyone everywhere else.

-the Ceph are weaker in these forms, yes. but they appear en masse.

-the Ceph deploy the first Bio Area Denial Weapon (the Spire that destroys the Nanocradle) succesfully. the results are clear: Alcatraz barely survives the attack and every human in a wide area around the Spire is reduced to stray molecules. during the mission to assault the spire, you never encounter any human aside from a few infected inside the medical camp plus a ton dead, and the dead marines inside the Sewer System. neither posed a threat, so they were left to exist.

-the second Area Denial Weapon appears during the secondary evac. this time, the weapon is stopped and succesfully reversed by Alcatraz. not entirely, since the Pinger (big tripod) survives. but all ceph with exposed jelly are killed.

-the Spore Regulator was about to destroy all human life in the entirety of NY when Alcatraz and the N2 succesfully reprogrammed the Spore and used it to destroy Ceph life in the entire city, including Pingers.

this means that, if Alcatraz hadn't arrived just in time to save the day, the entirety of NY would've been devoid of human life and that the Ceph would've won that particular battle.

but there's more. New York isn't the only city. there are a dozen or so Spore Regulators around the world. if those do fire in time, the war is still lost since the humans there WILL be killed.

the Ceph Plan:

the Ceph Plan is one of almost megalomaniac proportions. the Ceph are clearly Predecessors (Hargreave says they're here to reclaim their property) and now aim to remove the human threat from the planet without doing major damage to it.

the Ceph seem to have mastered Nanotechnology. they use Nanites, which in great masses can destroy humans entirely. since each CephII warrior drops Nanites (and since the CephI don't), the most logical conclusion is that the CephII are built by the nanites and the Spore Regulator. the CephII have all the materials they need to be mass produced, since the only things they really need are organic matter and metal.

this means that unlike the CephI, the CephII can be (and most likely are) mass produced by nanites. since there is no real CephII logistic megamachine, the entire Ceph Force had to originate from NY. and since the only building that rose from Central Park was the Spore Regulator, again it's clear that the CephII are nanite-made and made from the humans that were killed by the Ceph disease.

given that the Ceph can reprogram DNA easily, using their nanotech, and given that they can destroy humans entirely, they should be able to use this to produce their force on the fly, sacrificing some of their supertech for numbers.

again, the Ceph Soldiers were more of a distraction than the main weapon, since the main weapon was the Spore Regulator, and the secondary weapons were mostly the Spore Spires.

the CephI were more powerful. true, since the CephI from CI were the original, dormant Ceph. the CephI have all the power and technology of the Ceph.

the CephII were weaker in many ways but that wasn't the goal. the Ceph plan was to use the Spore Regulator to destroy humans. the Soldiers were a way to keep the military occupied.

i hope this clears things up
