It wouldn't make sense if they had to price the demo for the public. It would just cause an even more bigger uproar. At the end of the day, we want to know what the game feels like, looks like, plays like, so a demo would be crucial.
Putting a price tag on it just destroys the point in a demo. It shouldn't even be called a demo if it has a price tag on it.
But getting back to the matter on hand, a demo as of now is still TOO EARLY. A SP demo would usually come around the release dates month (In this case, March). It gets the people's blood pumped up.
