Crysis 1 console vs PC comparison shots

Post » Mon Nov 28, 2011 11:04 pm

Are the huts in Crysis 1 remastered empty?
In the Pc version there are tons of interior objects and destructible lamps, tables, fruits etc.. everything reacted physically correct.
This is not seen in your video.

Also the water looks really downgraded the same for the tricked draw distance... what a foggy island ;-)

But all in all... Crytek learned some neat tricks to make the game possible on consoles... but its 2 steps and more behind the original from what i can see so far.

First 15 Minutes on Xbox 360:

First 15 PC vanilla on very high:

First 15 Msterconfig 3.01

-As you can see the lighting is clearly superior with the msterconfig and beats the new Cryengine 3 lighting by far in my opinion. Also the water and shadoweffects are way superior in that version than in the other 2.

-I have to admit though the consoleversions lightingsystem is clearly ahead the vanilla version on very high.
But its also often used to disguise rather weak detailed areas with extreme overblendig or bloom effects in the console version.

I think the Console version of the original Crysis turned out great even better amazing. The control scheme is really much better than in the original PC version. Of course not all things are better like certain graphical areas are not but it's still a really great version of the original Crysis. I just hope Crysis Warhead comes to consoles too! I say this as a PC and PS3 gamer.

@ ChompOnThis12589

Did you play Crysis 1 on Pc with a controller?

Sorry but i must the controls on the PC version are superior .. you can use speedmode and strafe at the same time.
Also the weapon customization and the nanosuitmenu in the original are optimized for mousecontrols and therefore logically better.

This may be a bit offtopic but I love how lighting looks on console versions. Does anyone know to make Crysis1 on PC lighting look more like it does on consoles? I see many Ultra Quality and similar mods, but I don't want ultra everything (my machine can't handle it), I just want lighting to look closer to what it looks on consoles (darker shadows, brighter highlights etc).

mAybe the mster performance config http://crysis.4thdimension.info/forum/showthread.php?t=6865.
It improves the lighting and TOD but saves performance by reducing the LOD and bokeh filter.

I'm not saying the Crysis on consoles is better than Crysis on PC just that it turned out great also on consoles. I mean obviously high end PC's are going to be better at playing high demanding games. But for what the consoles pack as far as hardware I think Crytek did great. I mean I don't get why people are knocking the console version, PC gamers already had the original Crysis(and Warhead) and were very happy with it.

I'm shocked how good this port looks like, new lightining looks more live GDC trailer :P Its strange to play this game and dont worry about FPS.
I bought ps3 ver because I like this game and PC with dx10 ver is almost unplayable on my computer with 280gtx quad 3GHz, 8GB, and I dont think that new configuration will manage to max it out without problems.
It will be great if crytek could patch his original game or release this remake of crysis (on cryengine3) on PC.
You start the game, fps are very good, avarage around 60, 5 minuts later memory leak kick in and fps are cut down by more than half to around 20-25.. when you see task manager it shows how fast all aviable ram is filling till all aviable momory of 8GB are filled, eventualy the game stops. I cant believe how could anyone release game like this :(. You need to reload save game to see good fps again. I Could still play the game in these 20-25 but the crysis warhead is even more demanding, on my PC this game is hard to play at dx10 and I know it isny my hardware fault because before momory leak this game is very smooth. I tested in on many other configuration, new patches for crysis, drivers etc With this memory leak all computers plays this game just fine but ony for 5 minutes, later even 580gtx isnt enough, who know, maybe no computer ever will be able to play crysis as it should be played. MANY PEOPLE wrote about that in various topic, it is known issue
http://www.incrysis.com/forums/viewtopic.php?pid=518202
It is easy to find hundreds of people complaining about that but still this first two crysis games wasnt patched .. good that at least there is crysis on consoles now :)

Ahm.. i even played Crysis 1 with msters config and rygels textures and got around 27-36 FPS throughout the game @ 1680*1024 and 4X AA.
And i used a stock GTX 280 with a Core 2 quad Q9650 @ 3GHZ. So i guess you should consider to reinstall windows or something if that is a constant issue. Also what is fluid for your? 60 FPS? 40 FPS?... Crysis 1 looks very smooth with 30 FPS.. i dont know why but it seems to have some sort of smoothing the FPS effect in it.

But youre right... Crysis 1 was and is piss poorly optimized.

I Played crysis 1.2.1 without mods, its the only one game that gives me this problems and I even tested it on MANY COPUTERS, and not only I noticed this problem, many, MANY people, just google crysis memory leak and you will be amazed. BTW I allways use dx10 very high, 64bit exe. Game runs very good (around 40-60fps) and than there is a moment after few minutes when fps are cut by half and I get 20-30, nothing changed, you still looking at the same scene and you need to use load/quick save in order to get these 40-60 fps again. You right, even with memory leak this game is still playabe and if you play dx9 mode its not so easy to run into memory leak but because I know that few moments ago fps were around 40-60 in dx10... I'm disappointed because it is clearly game engine problem not hardware problem, its pushing people to buy new hardware that they dont need. Just list of "memory leaks" (they are written in red color) in the console makes me realise how waist of PC resurces this game was. You need 580gtx to play this game just fine and warhead, as like this guy with only "570gtx" said is unplayable if you play dx10 mode. No one likes to use quick and load over and over again :), only console users can focus just on the game and this is why I bought also ps3 ver.(before I bought ORIGINAL copy of crysis 1 and warhead) and as I said, crysis should be optimized this way LOOOOONG TIME AGO because generaly it has very good game content. Good work of people who done this game content was ruined by this memory leak, how thing like that wasn't spotted during beta phase I dont know :P

I bought Crysis on Steam platform 2 days ago and I have that terrible memory leak/bug. I just bought a game I can't play!!! Memory page rises so fast, I can't running the game for more than 1 minute!!! My 4GB memory RAM returns to 90s age...
And no fix is coming... C***!

Thanks Tom, i just bought crysis on my ps3 and i really liked it, i'm glad you didn't have to reduce the graphics that much, actually the graphics were barely reduced or weren't reduced at all for some textures! I know some people want a warhead port, but i'm just saying i'm not going to buy it if you make it happen. See i recently upgraded my PC so it can play games like crysis when i'm not on my ps3, but i still got crysis on my ps3 instead because of its better controls. My point isthat i want to have some use to my newly upgraded PC! But don't take this as a negative comment towards a possible warhead remake because thanks not fair to the people who want it. Anyway, GOOD JOB!

Hmmhm .. I never noticed that bad memory leaks... not on Vista 32 and not on Windows 7 64.
Also i have a Gtx 570 Phantom now and i play it on DX10 with Msters config and get 31-42 FPS.
On Vista 32 i had a huge bug where the game suddenly dropped below 12 FPS and sometimes even the game crashed.
The issue occured because i didnt patched it right. You have to patch it chronologically! Start with the earliest Patch avialable!
If you have these problems or steam patches automatically you have to prevent it from installing the latest patch at first! All my problems disappeared after i installed all patches in the right order.

Anyone having performance issues with Crysis on PC, first off STOP playing in DX10 and don't use the 64 bit exe. How many tweak guides and reviews do we need to read to know that for Crysis, DX10 brought nothing to the table and neither did 64 bit.

Second, trying to play at 1920x1080 @ 60 FPS is not realistic especially when making comparisons to the console versions which are sub-HD and can barely maintain 30 FPS. Lock Crysis at 30-35 FPS using your Autoexec or system.cfg. Crysis' SP campaign doesn't need 60 FPS to feel smooth, in fact running it that fast makes the game feel like it was shot with a cheap home video camera.

Third, stop using the in-game AA settings. Not only is FSAA horribly inefficient, it does nothing to the foliage in the game which is what really needs the AA. Use Xzero's FXAA based post-process shader; it provides AA for both regular edges as well as the foliage and has almost no performance penalty.

Myself, I'm running older GTX 260's in SLI. I'm locked at 35 FPS @ 1920x1080 and am using Mster 3.01 (Quality + my own tweaks), High-Rez foliage, Xzero's Postprocess AA shader as well as his POM/AF shader. My GPU usage is usually around 70% which leaves lots of headroom when the action heats up. I get no framerate dips or lags and I don't have any memory leaks. Game runs nice and smooth.

I really like the new console version! It looks much greater, so the game changes for the best.

I m not buying it, just like ANY Crytek product till i see this company take care of the community and the products they release. Till i see they fix Crysis 2 issues or take care of his Crysis 3(and that means theres no way i buy that when it comes out..IF i buy) i m not buying anything from this company.
